Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow is a sequel of Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow for
the Gameboy Advance. I have been a fan of the Castlevania series and this DS
installment is a great addition to the series. This guide is created for
people who are new to the series and want to find their way through the
game using this guide, as well as serious gamers who want to collect
everything in the game using this guide. Glitches are not covered, as well
as items and souls that can be obtained by glitching the game. Also note
this:
THIS GUIDE CONTAINS SPOILERS.
This guide tries to avoid spoilers as much as possible: Walkthrough section
will not contain any information regarding the main storyline or secrets of
certain rooms here and there. However being a walkthrough, this guide will
contain a lot of spoilers, especially when it comes to tell you which room
you should go next.

##### 2. How To Read This Guide ##### [0002]
###############################################################################
As mentioned earlier, it is recommended that you open two copies of this
guide. This guide provides you with ASCII recreation of the map of the
castle. Each room is assigned with its own letter, and Walkthrough section
is based on those letters. For example, you will see a part of a map
looking like this:

As the text says, you need to go from the room <K> to <L>. Get the idea?
You will also occasionally skip to other rooms or come back to that room.

Walkthrough will not contain information about secrets of some rooms in the
castle: they are explained in Spoilers section. Therefore, you can simply
use the map for a reference, or read the walkthrough part with the map for
a quick play through, or resolve to the Spoilers section when you are
really stuck.

##### 3. Basic Control ##### [0003]

Up : Activate portals / Save a game in the save rooms / Sit on a chair
/ Enter certain doors in the game.
Down : Duck
Left : Go to left
Right : Go to right
A : Special Attack (consumes MP)
B : Jump / Double jump (special ability required)
Down + B : Slide Kick / Jump off a platform
B + B + Down/Left+Down/Right+Down + B : Double jump kick
(special ability required)
X : Change between weapon sets (special ability required)
Y : Attack
Up + Y : Use Bullet souls
L : Back dash
Up + L : High jump (special ability required)
R : Use Guardian souls
Start : Bring out the menu.
Select : Change the top screen between the map and the status screen.
Touch Screen: Used to break ice blocks (special ability required), to seal
the boss, to attack with familiars(souls required) and to
select between portals when in a portal room.

##### 4. About Souls ##### [0004]
###############################################################################
When you kill a monster, it will randomly give you its soul. You can think
of the souls as magic attacks. The properties of souls will somehow follow
their original characters. They can be categorized into Bullet-Type Tactical
soul, Guardian-Type Tactical soul and Enchant-Type Tactical soul. In this
guide, any soul that is Bullet-Type is noted as [B], such as Skeleton[B].
Accordingly, Guardian-Type souls are suffixed by [G] and Enchant-Type souls
are suffixed by [E]. Ability-Type soul is considered as an 'ability' in this
guide.
You can increase the power of the soul by collecting many of the same soul.
The maximum number of any soul that you can have is 9. When you bring out
the soul equipment screen, you will notice that there are numbers beside the
the name of the soul and the description of the soul. The number beside the
name of the soul is current number of soul you dominate. The left number
beside soul description is current level of that soul, and the right number
is maximum level the soul can reach. Divide 9 by its maximum level and that
is the amount of souls you need to level up the soul to the next level. If
the maximum level is 5, you need 2 more souls to level that soul up.
For example, if you have Lv 1/3 Skeleton[B] 2, you have 2 Skeleton[B] souls
and the current level of our Skeleton[B] soul is 1. Since 9/3 = 3, you have
to have 4 Skeleton[B] to level it up. For now you need two more Skeleton[B]
souls to level the soul up to Lv 2/3 since you already have two of it.
Soul drop rate differentiate from a monster to a monster. Just about every
monster has a soul, except Human bosses that you will fight. You will get a
reward for collecting 100% of the souls in the game(refer to the
Spoilers section). Collecting souls is a huge part of the game system, but
don't dwell on it too much. This game is, after all, about exploring the
castle and kicking some monster asses.

##### 5. About Weapon Upgrades #### [0005]
###############################################################################
Over the course of the game, you will collect lots of weapons and there is
even a shop from which you can buy weapons. However you can fuse some of
your souls with your weapons to make stronger weapons. It is up to you that
which series of weapons you want to indulge yourself in, so experiment
well. Note that guns and ranged weapons such as a boomerang cannot be
upgraded.

##### 6. Walkthrough ##### [0006]

After the prologue, you will be prompted to a small fight with a set of
monsters. Upon killing an enemy, you will receive its soul. Use it in the
next fights to make them easier. After a long dialogue scene, you will
find yourself in <The_Lost_Village>.

Game starts. This is the beginning of many hours of good gaming experience.
Excited? You should be :D Proceed to <C>.
<C>
Pretty basic beginning of the game. You will encounter with Skeletons and
Bats. Simply defeat them and proceed to <D>. If you want their souls, go out
of the room, come back, and the enemies will regenerate so you can kill them
and hopefully get their souls.
<D>
Do not bother with the Peeping_Eye[E] soul for now, unless you want to scout
out the hidden walls of the castle(or a cult base, to be precise) all by
yourself or you are collecting 100% of the souls. Those hidden rooms are
included in this guide. You will see some floors you can't reach for now.
That means you will have to come back, so simply proceed to <E>.
<E>
If this is your first visit to the room, there is a Short_Sword laying on
the ground. Pick it up and equip it. Drop down and you will find a Potion
on the ground. Pick it up and head right to find a save room. This room
fills up HP/MP so use it if necessary. Room <L> is not accessible since you
don't have a magic seal yet. Head to <F>.
<F>
Warg is not tough once you have the Short_Sword equipped, or if you keep
the distance and throw the Skeleton[B] soul at it. Axe Armor can throw axes
either horizontally or upward. Both are easy to dodge. Advance to <G>.
<G>
A cut scene ensues. After the cut scene, you will receive Magic_Seal_1 from
Yoko. This is needed to open doors to some of boss rooms, and to seal bosses
away. You can always practice drawing it from the menu, so if needed then
practice it(but the first magic seal is really easy to draw). Now you can
open the door in <E>. You will not be able to swim down yet so don't
bother. Go back all the way to <E>-2.

Save before you reach for the sealed door. After a short dialogue scene you
will automatically walk into the next room and fight the first boss in the
game: Flying Armor.

*Attacks*
1. It holds two blades directed at you and shoots them at you.
2. It swings the blades around.
3. It shoots two blades to the sides of the screen. They come back slicing
the bottom of the screen.
*Strategy*
This is a pretty easy boss. To avoid attack 1, just move away. To avoid
attack 2, just keep the distance or duck and slide kick when the blades
start to spin. Attack 3 is easily dodged by jumping over the blades. If you
have the Axe_Armor[B] soul then use it and it will hit multiple times. Just
keep attacking and you will win in no time. You will receive the
Flying_Armor[G] soul when you defeat the boss.
After a short dialogue with Yoko you will be able to proceed to <K>.
<K>
Equip the Flying_Armor[G] soul and use it(hold R after jumping) to reach the
higher platform. Pick up the Claymore. It will give you more powerful attack
but the attack speed is sacrificed. Head to <J>.
<J>
The portal is not accessible now. Get the Spear here. You can drop down to
the bottom of the room and visit Yoko and Hammer. Helpful items you can get
from "Honest Hammer's(not an official name, mind you heh)" is the
Castle_Maps. UMA_News describes some rare monsters and their appearances. If
you want to solve the mysteries without reading this guide, then buy them
too. Stock up the Potions if you'd like or get some new weapons, but you
already have a good selection of weapons and you will collect more Potions
along the way so there's no point using the shop for now. Visit Yoko's
place too. If you visit their places often, you will see some dialogue
scenes between them and Soma.
If you want a money bag & a Mace and want to find a save room go to <I>.
Otherwise head to <M>. Of course you want the money bag, don¡¯t you?
<I>
Ouiji_Table[E] soul is fun to have(and sometimes comes in handy) but the
drop rate is terrible and it's not really required so if you can't get it
then don't worry about it. The Mace and the $1000 money bag are there for
you to pick up. Go back to <J> once you found a save room on the left.
<M>
Simply advance to <N>.
<N>
Spin Devil can go down easily if you have a Spear or a Claymore equipped. If
you want to collect $2000, Corn_Soup and Cape then head to <R>, otherwise
go to <O> using the Flying_Armor[G] soul.
<R>
This is the best place to collect the Zombie[B] soul. Try to hit the ground
with either weapons or souls near <S> and you will reveal a hidden room <V>
below.
<V>
Simply collect Corn_Soup and $2000, then get out.
<S>
There is an item on the other side of the room but you don't have an access
to it. You can't get it now so come back later(see Spoilers section). You
picked up and equipped the Cape already, right? (heh)
<O>
Student_Witch[B] soul is good in the early game if you want a long range
attack. If you are running low on HP and have the Ouiji_Table[E] soul then
there are lots of chairs to sit on. Nothing else to do. Go to <P>.
<P>
Simply advance to <Q>.
<Q>
There's a switch on the wall and when you activate it(attack it) the water
will drain and you can finally go to the bottom of <G>.

It's time to move on to the next area: <Wizardry_Lab_(1)>. Watch out for the
Spin Devil and go through the door to the right.

Ghosts are in your way. Drop down and in the middle of way you will see two
open passages on your left and right: left to the save room, right to <E> to
collect some money. Pick up the Mind_Up and save if necessary. Drop down all
the way and proceed to <H>.
<E>
Bomber Armor is fairly strong but its attack is easy to dodge. Pick up the
Blunt_Sword. When you reach the bottom of the room there is a treasure chest
waiting for you. Break it open and you will get random amount of money. This
chest regenerates like enemies so you can come back for more money if you
want. Go back to <A>.
<H>
Skull_Archer[G] soul is very useful because you can increase the damage by
holding down R button. This consumes more MP though, so use it wisely. Go
to <G>.
<G>
Now you have two paths. They eventually lead to <R> so choose whichever ways
you want to choose. Go to <Q> to find a Scarf first.
If you want to activate a portal first, go to <L>.
If you want the way to the boss, choose <N>.
<Q>
A Scarf is on the ground. You can pick it up and equip it but you can't go
farther yet. Go back to <G>.
<L>
Manticore is fairy tough but it's nothing you can't handle. There is a
creepy painting on the wall and the eyes are watching you... Proceed to <M>.
<M>
You will eventually have to pass this room later. On your right is a portal.
To activate it, simply go into the room. You can visit The_Lost_Village
again for shopping if you want. You can either proceed to <N> or <O>.
<O>
Slaughterer's fire ball can be destroyed by simply attacking it. Back dash to
dodge as well. Proceed to <R>.
<P>
Nothing to do now. Go back to <O>.
<N>
This is one of the best rooms to collect the Manticore[G] soul. Simply go
back and forth between this room and <S> while killing Manticores(and others
while you are at it). Of course you don't necessarily have to do the labor
if you don't want to.
If you want to activate a portal first, go to <M>(You will eventually have
to pass this room later). If you want the way to the boss, choose <S>.
<S>
This is the best room to collect the Golem[E] soul. Notice that the Golem
has gotten much tougher to beat since the first time you fought it. Advance
to <R>.
<R>
Simply advance to <T>.
<T>
Another cut scene is shown. Your objective is now clear from the dialogue
here. When the cut scene is done, go to <U>.

Nothing here, just save the game and prepare to fight the boss waiting in
the room <V>.

When you enter the room and approach to the ice, a giant laser beam
penetrates the ice blocks and opens the passage.

4. It holds its fist in front of its face briefly and punch two times
horizontally.
*Strategy*
This battle can be very easy once you master the patterns, although the size
and the powerful attacks of the boss can throw your guard off at first. Its
fist can't hurt you unless it is in attack motion, so don't worry about
bumping into it while attacking. When it shoots the giant beam, simply duck.
To dodge attack 2, move close to the face. To dodge attack 3, move away from
the face(in other words, move towards the gate on your right). Attack 4 can
be easily dodged by ducking first, and jumping. Recommended weapons of
choice is anything that can swing overhead such as an Axe or a Claymore.
Manticore[G] soul will help a lot. Stay close to the face and keep attacking
while dodging its attacks, and you will win in no time. You will receive
Balore ability when you defeat the boss.
After the fight, head back to the right. The ice blocks are there and you
can try your newly gained ability on them. Simply touch the screen to break
the blocks, and come back to <U>-2.

Treant is found here. Its punch and kick are fairly strong so watch out and
try to attack from the distance. You will find Magic_Seal_2 on the ground.

A portal is found on your left. Corpse Weed looks just like Une at first but
it grows up and attacks you. Activate the portal and simply advance to <O>.

There is a Breastplate on the platform, so don't miss it. Skeleton Ape will
throw a barrel which can be destroyed. Keep your distance from it or destroy
the barrel. Go to <L>.

Nothing special here. The gate cannot be opened since you don't have
matching Magic Seal yet. Mollusca can poison you. Go back to <O>.

Catoblepas will petrify you with the cloud breath. Once petrified, you will
receive more damage so try to shake it off by pressing the controller left
and right quickly(or any other direction for that matter).
If you want to open a treasure chest and get a Fleuret then go to <H>.
If you want the Doppleganger ability then go to <M>.

There is a platform you can't reach yet. Rycuda will not attack you unless
you get close to it. Weapons that swing overhead will help here. Watch out
for the Mandragora and drop down to <O>-2.

Eliminate the Catoblepas and advance to the end of the platform. Open the
chest for some money and find the Fleuret on the platform. Go back to <L>.

If you are entering from the top passage, watch out for the barrel that
Skeleton Ape throws. On the top platform of the room lies a new ability,
Doppelganger. It lets you equip two sets of weapons and souls. You need to
press X to change between the sets. This room is the only place you can find
the Skeleton_Farmer[E] soul. One of the seeds it throws is Mandragora, so be
careful. Watch out for Yorick's skull. If you take down the skull first, the
body will panic and will charge towards you. The blue chest in this room is
not a chest but a monster, Mimic. Avoid it if your HP is low. Go to <N>.

If you want to pick up Three_7's(an armor which boosts your luck) head down
to <U>. Otherwise go out of the room to the right to the next area,

His attacks are powerful, but you can dodge them all very easily. To dodge
his first/second attacks, simply jump(or double jump). When he creates the
flame pillars, time it right and move over to the left or right a little,
wait for the sign of second pillar, then move over again. Third pillar seems
to be almost always between the first two, so you can attack him while the
pillars are burning. The weapon of choice is spear series, since they have
long ranges and powerful attacks.
After you beat him, another dialogue scene is presented. You will be able to
go to <A> now.

Nothing special here. Watch out for Skelerang and open the door, and you
will be in the next area, <Demon_Guest_House>.

The best moment to kill Mini Devils is when they pause to create their sonic
boom like attacks. Find a save room and advance to <M>.

Ahh...Witch, the best monster to look at, is here...how many hours have I
wasted slaying Ghouls, staring at you...*shudders* She won't attack you
unless you jump. Ghoul[E] soul sometimes comes in handy, such as the time
when you want to change Rotten_Meat into a High_potion. Go to <K>.
<K>
If you want more souls or items appearing in front of you, then harvesting
and maxing out Ghost_Dancer[E] souls is highly recommended. If you get the
Amalaric_Sniper[B] soul, you can have your very first soul combination.
Equip the Skull_Archer[G] soul along with it and whenever the
Skull_Archer[G] soul is activated the Amalaric Sniper is summoned to help
out.
This is also the best room to collect The_Creature[E] soul for now, since
there's a candle holder to replenish your low MP; then again, that monster
is notorious for not giving up its soul, and its effect is not very helping,
so don't get frustrated if you don't get the soul right away(and consider
yourself VERY lucky if you get the soul with a couple of attempts). Actually
just avoid collecting its soul until you have more powerful souls to attack.
Using the Flying_Armor[G] soul, you can pick up a Potion. There's a portal
on the left.

Hell_Boar[B] soul is very powerful if you dare get close to enemies. Its
fireball can be destroyed. Advance to <O>.

Using the Barbariccia[G] soul transforms you into giant dashing devil. You

Traverler_Cape and go back to <O>.

Guillotiner separates itself into two parts. Attack either part and you can
kill it easily.

1. His initial soul attack is Malachi[B]. He shoots giant spinning ball
towards you.
2. He will copy whatever soul you attack him with, and will use it.
3. He draws a knife at you.
*Strategy*
He can be very easy or very challenging depending on what souls you have and
how you attack him. His Malachi[B] soul attack can be dodged by jumping and
using the Flying_Armor[G] soul. Once you attack him with one of your souls,
he will stop using the Malachi[B] soul and start using the soul you just
attacked him with. The souls he uses are at Lv 1 though, so give him
something that you can easily dodge. Some of the examples that are easily
dodged ones are Une[B], Warg[B], Student_Witch[B], Bomber_Armor[B], even
Yorick[B], and a lot more. You can experiment with different souls. He will
also copy Guardian souls should you choose to give him them(except some
souls such as Barbariccia[G], Valkyrie[G] and Skull_Archer[G]), so familiars
or attacking Guardian souls are not suggested for an easy battle. Of course
there's no stopping you from setting up some challenges...*grins*
Notice that if you use Zombie[B] you can't slay his zombies. Also once he
gains the dominance over one of your souls and if you give him another one
then he will not use the one you gave him before again, even if you try to
give him that soul again. For example, once you attack him with Skeleton[B],
attack him with Une[B], attack him with Skeleton[B] again, then he will
still use Une[B] instead of using Skeleton[B].
One dark lord candidate down, one more to go. Proceed to <G>.

The trick is to stay below it, but just a little to the left or right.
Attack with weapons that swings overhead or use the Axe_Armor[B] soul. When
you see the boss gather power to shoot out energy balls, move as far away as
possible and jump to the other direction to dodge them. If it comes down to
ground, attack until it goes back to the middle of the air, then simply walk
towards it as it shoots out the crows to the empty space. When it moves
around, just run around to avoid it. Again, there's no tough boss in this
game once you know their attack patterns. You will receive Malphas ability
upon defeating it. Now you can double jump to the higher platforms.

want to absorb enemy's magic attacks. Take her soul and then torture her

Devil[G] soul will increase your attack dramatically, but will consume your
HP constantly. If your HP is low, don't use it. Lilith will send out a heart
and when you get in contact with it you will get cursed(status effect) and
your MP will drain very quickly.
You can expand your map clear rate and collect some items by visiting <T>
and other small rooms, or you can simply proceed to <m>. You can stand on
the chandelier. There is a save room to the right.

This room has same structure as <h>, so watch out for monsters and proceed.
This is one of the best places to get the Valkyrie[G] soul. Killer_Clown[B]
soul is useful if you can obtain it.

This is a sliding puzzle room. Bright coloured parts are the passages and
you can pass through it. At first the passages lead you to top-left corner
<c> which eventually leads to the boss. Top-right room <g> has an item and
bottom-left passage <k> will lead you to <The_Lost_Village>. By solving the
sliding puzzle and matching passages, you can visit them all. When you come
back to <l> you can reset the puzzle and go through other passages as well.
If you want 100% map completion, you will have to pass through all the
rooms. You don't have to visit them all at once: come back to <l> and solve
the puzzle again so you can visit the rooms you haven't visited later. The
room with no number will have passages to four ways, so use it wisely. Some
of the rooms contain items as well, so you will want to visit every room to
make sure you didn't miss any of them. The list of rooms that have items
goes as follows:

*Attacks*
1. It shoots out many small floating dolls from its mouth.
2. It creates an puppet on one of its hands, tries to place it in an
iron maiden and switch you into that iron maiden.
*Strategy*
You should know where to attack. Suggested weapon is again the ones that
can attack overhead. The giant head in the centre is the weak point, but you
should check one of its hands when it makes weird noise. If you see a puppet
in its hand, destroy it quickly or you will receive huge damage. You will
have to hit the puppet twice(in normal mode. In hard mode you have to hit it
four times) regardless of the damage you inflict: hit it fast with second
set of weapon or start bashing it early. Puppet Master itself doesn't attack
you and you will not get hurt by bumping into its body part unlike you do
with other bosses. If you have Rycuda[B] soul then those annoying floating
dolls can be easily destroyed. Equip souls that can attack upwards too, such
as Mandragora[B], Axe_Armor[B], Spin_Devil[G] or even Hell_Boar[B]. If you
are focusing on physical attacks then the Golem[E] soul is recommended,
while the Lilith[E] soul is a better choice when you want your magic attacks
to be more powerful. This boss can be tough at first but take your time to
observe its attack patterns, and you will have your victory eventually. You
will gain the Puppet_Master[B] soul once you defeat the boss.
Now that you have the Puppet_Master[B] soul, you are given a bit of freedom
to choose next area to go. You can also collect the High_Mind_Up in <o> now
but you will have to either climb back a long way to a portal or walk a long
way to go to the next area, so go back for it later.

* want to be able to swim in the water
* want an easier route
* want to level up a bit
* feeling a bit adventurous and want to explore the castle
then your next area should be <Subterranean_Hell_(1)>. To get to
<Subterranean_Hell_(1)>, go to <The_Dark_Chapel>, <S> and use the
Puppet_Master[B] soul to pass the wall. Open the door, and you will be in

What is this room? Nearly all female characters in the game can be found
here(but not every one of them). Since being a vampire WOULD attract the
opposite sex, this makes sense...no? (heh) Collect some souls here or get
back to <G>.
<F>
Here you will find an Iron Golem. No matter what weapons or souls you use,
you will only inflict damage of 1 only. The fastest way (not the most
effective, mind you) to kill this monster is to use the Imp[B] soul, which
changes the HP and MP of the monster. Equip a weapon that will attack very
fast or that allows you to attack from a distance if you don't want to get
hurt. Souls that work as a mine also works great. If you can't get its soul
after hours of labour, don't worry: you are among many frustrated soul
collectors. Iron Golem would not give up its soul easily. You also need its
soul to synthesize weapons as well, so you will need at least two if you
want to have synthesized weapons and 100% of souls. The horror! Think of
the children, Konami!

You have seen those pink walls with monsters engraved on them, right?
If you are still not sure about what to do, refer to the Spoiler section
of this guide. Lots of candle holders are found, so fill up your MP and
advance to <D>.

This boss is easy comparing to what's waiting in the next room. Hack away
with your weapon, back dash to dodge its knife attack and duck to avoid
the laser beam. You will have to place yourself well when you duck,
otherwise the beam could hit you. Look for the order the mirrors flash and
try to position yourself between the beams or use the Bat_Company[G] soul to
stay in the mid-air to avoid the laser beam. When you finish the boss, the
door to <B> opens. Enter <B> and you will fight the second form of the boss.

1. It hovers above you for a while and kicks downward.
2. It goes inside of the mirror, manipulates the four small mirrors placed
on each corner of the room and shoots a laser beam two times. The small

*Strategy*
Nothing much has changed except the size of the boss and the fact that it
will shoot larger laser beam, two times. You will want to use the
Bat_Company[G] soul to avoid the laser beam this time. Do not jump when it
is staying above you: wait(or attack upward) and lure it down to attack.
Weapons that swing above your head or souls that will shoot upward will
help. Using the Ukoback[B] soul is also fun thing to do. When you defeat it,
you will get the Paranoia[B] soul which will allow you to enter the mirrors.
Now you have ability to go into the mirrors, you can go back to the rooms
with giant mirrors and find items. First, go to <A> to collect the
Orlox's Suit and don't forget that the first room that you fought with small
Paranoia also has a giant mirror on the wall.

attack (it stops hovering around) and dodge then attack it. There is
Tastey_Meat on the top of the room but you can't reach it yet. Go to <B>-8.

Disc Armor can be tough if your level is low or your HP is running low. The
best strategy here is getting close to it: crouch before it and attack
there. When it hurls the disc out, jump over it and keep doing the routine.
You won't get hurt this way. Did I mention that this is the best room to
collect the Disc_Armor[B] soul? It will disappear once you defeat the boss
of this area, however. Make your way to <I>.

More Disc Armors are spotted on the way top. Try avoiding the discs and
keep attacking. You can also just ignore them and proceed. Go to <B>-6.

Fleaman is weak but it can be annoying. Weapons or souls that have wide
attack range or familiars are your best friend here. Head to <H>.

Find your way to the top and go to <B>-5.

Giant Axe Armor looks scary, but it is nothing you can't handle. The best
way to fight it is, again, getting close to it. Crouch right before it and
attack. When it swings that giant axe of it you will not get hurt. Pick up
an Estoc from the top of the room and go to <B>-4.

Werewolf could be tough at this time. Attack it a couple of times, pull
back and let it attack you, dodge the attack, and then attack again. The
Skeleton Ape here can throw your guard off so be careful. Go to <B>-3.

You will find Buer charing at you once you stand on the slanted ground so
be sure to dodge it. If you want yet another copy of UMA_News go to the

Kill those hopping little Fleamen and proceed to the top of the room. Be
sure to find a save room to the right, and prepare for one of the hardest
boss battles of the game. Take a deep breath, and when you are ready, go

1. It takes a couple of steps either forward or backward.
2. It raises its head, inhales deeply and crushes its head down to the
ground.
3. It crouches, then shoots out clouds of gas. They could be either
Petrification (gray) or poison (purple).
4. It backs up a couple of steps to the end of the room, crouches for a
brief moment, and makes a giant leap towards you.
5. It gathers up the energy around its mouth and shoots out a giant laser
beam.
*Strategy*
Welcome to one of the hardest boss fights. Again, equip weapons that can
swing overhead. Manticore[G], Skull_Archer[G] or any other familiars will
help, but you won't get to use Bullet souls much here, unless you are using
Amalaric_Sniper[B] with Skull_Archer[G] or mine-like souls such as
Waiter_Skeleton[B] or Une[B]. Your main strategy involves a lot of ducking
and slicing. You will want to stay below the boss's head mostly, since that
is the best place to dodge most of its attacks. Do not get in contact with
its body, since you will be severely punished for doing so.
To dodge attack 1, simply duck below its head and keep attacking. There are
two ways to dodge attack 2. First, if you have enough room, then when it
starts to inhale, get as far away as possible and (if necessary)
jump/double jump. Alternatively, you can try to get as close as possible to
its feet and when you see it stops breathing (there is a brief moment
between it stops inhaling and slams its head down to the ground) duck
quickly and you won't get hit by its head. Attack 3 is easily dodged since
you have an obvious sign and you can even repel the gas by attacking it.
It is hard to dodge attack 4: when you see it back up and crouch, get very
close to its head. Then when it jumps, slide under it. Attack 5 is also
easily dodged: get right next to its feet and duck. Don't forget to attack
constantly while doing so.
In the middle of the battle, its face will peel off and it will start to
scream, madly walk around, then jump only to break the floor and fall.
While falling you can take some free shots at the boss. However when you
land you will get hit by its body so stay away after making some blows
(remember the number of floors you passed?). Or do the double jump kick
since it will cause a good amount of damage upon landing and you will be
safe. You can torture it with double jump kick over and over too...*ahem*
When you land, the boss will get crushed into the ground so you can have
more free shots, but it will recover soon. You will see the chain on its
feet will break open, and basically its attack speed is increased. The
patterns are same however, so watch out and you will emerge victorious
eventually. You will be rewarded with the Gergoth[G] soul which is a giant
laser beam the boss used.
When you finished the boss, climb all the way back to <C>-2.

Have the Flying_Armor[G] soul ready and enter <B>.

Step on the little ledge, double jump and use the Flying_Armor[G] soul to
get to the other side of the room. The exit leads to <A>.

Pick up the Tower_Key here, activate the portal on the left. At this time
you have yet another choice to make.

Medusa Heads are very annoying here. Blue one will just hit you but yellow
one will petrify you. When you are stoned(get it? heh) you will receive
more damage than usual so try to shake it off quickly. They are found in a
lot of rooms in <Cursed_Clock_Tower>. If you have Tombstone[E], Rycuda[B]
or leveled up Buer[G] soul now's the time to shed some light on them.
There's another statue with "573" engraved on it. You know what to do.

Giant pistons are pumping up and down and you will see blood stains on some
of them, and will also notice some of them have no bloods. There are spikes
on the ceiling as well. Also notice that stained ones go all the way up
but clean ones don't. What you have to do is this: run to the clean ones,
wait and duck until it's safe to cross the rest of the way and run like
wind. If you are not quick enough and you are sure that you will take some
damage, at least have the Mimic[E] soul equipped and you can earn some money
off of your damage here...(heh) Go to <R>.
<R>
When you drop down all the way to the bottom of the room, try to get close
to left wall of the room to avoid spikes on the floor. Find a save room on
your left and get back up to the top of the room to proceed to <S>.
<S>
Spinning spikes are very annoying as well as they are lethal. The first and
the second ones are spinning fast, so move quickly but try not to touch
them. The 3rd, 4th and 5th ones are easy to pass. When you go all the way
to the right of this room, you will have to get on the floor and come back
all the way back to proceed to <M>. This time, it will be harder to avoid
3rd one from left. Use the Puppet_Master[B] soul to bypass it.
Alternatively you can simply equip the Skeleton_Ape[E] soul, double jump,
use the Puppet_Master[B] soul and pass first two spinning spikes to go to
<M>. This way will required more precise timing, however, if you don't want
to get hurt.
<M>
Don't worry, those pendulums will not hurt you, even though they will push
you to the sides of the room or, if you are standing on a lower pendulum,
push you off from where you stand. You will want to take care of Imps first.
If you want a Scale_Mail go to <Q>. Otherwise start climbing the pendulums
and go to <N>.

Note that there's yet another giant mirror here. Pick up the Scale_Mail
and get back to <M>.

Find Magic_Seal_4 on the ground, kill the Bugbear and advance to <K>.

Drop down all the way to find a copy of UMA_News_3-3. Watch out for
Medusa Heads and climb your way to <J>.

Take care of the Slime and (if you want to) The Tanjelly. You have to get

If you prefer spinning spikes to those flying annoyances, spin towards <I>.

This is your usual clock tower room with gears and Medusa Heads. Climb your
way to top of the room. The exit there will lead you to <D>.

The spinning spikes here are not as bad as the ones you faced before. You
will have no problem finding your way to the top of the room. Use the
Puppet_Master[B] soul when needed. Hop to <D>.

Take care of Imps here. Get a ride on the giant pendulum and when it swings
to the right end, jump over to the ledges, and go to <C>.

Find a save room on your right, and prepare for yet another boss battle.

1. He charges at you and when he gets close enough to you, he swings his
set of knives.
2. He throws a knife at you.
3. He gathers up energy, stops time, jumps over you setting knives in an
arc and resumes time. If you attack him while he is pausing, he will
charge at you like pattern 1.
4. He jumps to ceiling and kicks off the ceiling while throwing a knife
at you. If he comes across another wall while he performs this attack, he
will kick off the wall again, throwing a knife at you again.
*Strategy*
This is a fairly tough boss at first. When he is charging at you simply
double jump over him. His knife can be knocked off if you attack it with
your weapon. When he is gathering up the energy to stop the time and you
attack him, it will be hard to dodge his attack since you won't have enough
time. Notice that if you get far from him while he gathers up the energy he
will stop pausing and either charge at you or will start walking towards you
again. After he freezes time and jumps over you to set the knives in the
mid-air, find a space between the knives to avoid them or knock them off
with your weapon or soul. You will want to hit him fast with weapons such
as the one from short swords series or katana series, but anything that
swings over your head is recommended if you find his knives from mid-air
hard to dodge. You will receive the Zephyr[B] soul upon defeating the boss.

Find and activate a portal on your left. Now you path forks again.
If you haven't gotten Rahab ability then now's time to visit
<Subterranean_Hell_(1)>. To get to <Subterranean_Hell_(1)>, go to

Get rid of Dead Pirates and find a save room on the bottom right. Save and
go to <B>.

Watch out for Cave Troll. Eliminate enemies here and be prepared for
another boss fight.

*Attacks*
1. It stands out straight and shoots out ice which will form platforms
upon hitting the surface of the water in the room.
2. It jumps over your head in an arc, setting icicles in mid-air. Those
icicles will drop down to the water.
3. It shoots itself out of the water vertically and dives back into water.
4. It swims around, trying to hit you in the water.
*Strategy*
This is going to be a very easy fight. All of its attacks are easy to
dodge, and you have plenty of room to maneuver so I will not go over the
details. To avoid icicles, simply get in the space between two falling
icicles. It is very easy to hit the boss while it is out of water. Follow
the bubbles when the boss is submerged and you can expect where the boss
will initiate its next attack. The platform that the boss will create is of
no use for you: they will break soon, and you are better off attacking the
boss while it doesn't attack you under water anyways. Killer_Clown[B],
Malachi[B] or leveled up Cave_Troll[B] will make good range attacks, while
Disc_Armor[B], Guillotiner[B] and such will help you in more melee-attack
oriented combat. Familiars will help too since they can attack the boss
while it is submerged and out of your weapon attack range. You will want to
attack the boss fast while it is out of water. Finish the fight quickly to
obtain Rahab ability, which allows you to move underwater.
Go back and save if you want. Now you can 'swim' by pressing jump button in
the water. Go to <D>.
<D>
A bunch of new marine creatures are found here. Merman is weak but it can
be bothersome if left unattended. Fish Head is just like the Bone Pillar in
the water. Decarabia is just like Buer in the water. So much for 'new'
enemies, eh? Drop down to <H>.
<H>
This is a very large room with lots of items to collect. Orchestrate your
swimming so you won't get hit by Needles or Fish Heads. Refer to the map in
this guide and collect a Chain_Mail, a High_Mind_Up, a Rusty_Food_Tin and a
$2000 money bag. Killer_Fish[B] soul is one of the best souls to use in the
water. When you are done, find your way to <K>.
<K>
Prepare to take a hit by Needles while dropping down to the bottom of the
room, unless you have the Killer_Fish[B] soul, leveled up Buer[G] soul or
anything that can protect you. Once dropped down to the bottom floor, try
to take out Needles first and make your way to <L>.
<L>
Procel will give you yet another ability, Procel(duh). It will let you move
in the water as fast as you would do on the ground. This room is not the
best place to get its soul but if you are either not good at control or
simply frustrated by the resistance you have when you are in the water then
get its soul here. Proceed to <J>.
<J>
Frozen Shade is found here. She will attack you with three giant icicles
but they will fall if you attack them. Frozen_Shade[B] soul is a decent
Bullet-Type soul. Go to <I>.
<M>
There is a gate blocking your way. Go back to <J>.
<G>
There is nothing but Ring-the-Bell like seesaw and three bells. You can get
some potions in this room(see Spoilers). Go back to <J>.
<I>
This is the only place in the castle where you will find Alura_Une. Her
soul could be very useful depending on a situation, and you can have another
soul combo with this soul and the Une[B] soul. She is weak against fire
attacks, so it is suggested that you come back when you get powerful fire
souls later, but if you are lucky enough you will get her soul right away.
Make your way to <R>.
<R>
Pick up the money bag located on the bottom left corner of the room. If you
want to go back to <Garden_of_Madness> and collect some items and complete
the map, go to <P>. Otherwise, exit to <Q>.
<P>
Ukoback sets fire in the mid-air. You can attack it to make it disappear.
Go to <F>.
<F>
Bone ark will shoot out an energy ball that will explode. If you kill the
big skull that's carried by the skeletons first then the skeletons will run
toward you. Find a save room on your right and go up to <E>.
<E>
Just eliminate enemies here and open the door. You will find yourself in
<Garden_of_Madness> again.

On your left is a portal. If you don't have the Zephyr[B] soul now, then
proceeding from this point is not recommended. Your path will be eventually
blocked and you will have to go back to find the Zephyr[B] soul later and
come back. The portal here will make your return trip easier.

* want to proceed the game without wandering around the castle too much

then you want to go to <Condemned_Tower>. To get to <Condemned_Tower>,

This is the best place to get Procel ability, although now it is not as
useful as it could have been if you had it earlier. Find a Mushroom and
go to <U>.
<U>
Nothing special here. Simply advance to <T>.
<T>
Drop down all the way to the bottom to find a save room on your right. If
you go out of top left exit, you will able to find Eversing through
hidden room eventually. If you take the bottom left exit, you can collect
a bunch of Mushrooms.
<O>
Watch out for Medusa Heads here. If you are from top left exit of <T>,
proceed to the platform where you see a Devil, double jump to the left and
do the kick to down-left direction or swing your weapon. You will brake the
wall beyond the waterfall and will find Eversing in <S>. If you are from
lower exit of <T>, make your way upward and you will find Mushrooms and an
Amanita. Amanita is not edible unless you have the Ghoul[E] soul. You know
why you shouldn't just pick up wild mushrooms and eat them, right? I will
give you a hint: you will grow mustache, grow double your size and will be
able to smash blocks in your way...(heh)
Now you have another decision to make. If you want to visit
<Wizardry_Lab_(2)>, which is completely irrelevant to the storyline but is
important because of the items and souls you can collect, you can go to <W>
through <X>. However you will need a certain soul (or combination of souls)
to cross the path there.
Otherwise you will want to go to <Y>, which leads you to <Silenced_Ruins>.
<S>
Pick up the Eversing on the ground and get back to <O>.
<Y>
Kill the enemies here and proceed to the door. You will enter the next area
of the game, <Silenced_Ruins>.
<X>
Nothing special here, just kill the enemies and proceed to <W>.
