This walkthrough is intended for Pokemon Diamond; however, the differences
between Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl are almost unnoticeable, so therefore
it can be used for Pokemon Pearl. I am making this walkthrough at quite a slow
pace; this is because I am trying to get precise wild Pokemon information,
battle information, important events and dialogue, gym leader and elite 4
battle strategies and finally I am checking everywhere for items, so be
patient.
I don't hack my games so that means I can't get exact encounter rates, instead
I've decided to do it the old-fashioned way. I'm going to run around in grass,
in caves, fish and surf until I find 50 Pokemon, tally it up, get percentages
and then I've got to do it all over again for Morning, Day and Night. So this
is very time consuming, but I'm prepared to do it (I've decided to do it
later). Also, I will add gender and level probabilities which is just the
encounter rates times the gender rates. I do plan to get another walkthroughs
encounter rates to make mine more precise, I just need permission first.
I am going to write down every trainers Pokemon and there levels. I will make
strategies for rival, gym leader and elite 4 battles, but I am no expert, it is
just my advice and how I did it. I have been playing since Red and Blue so I
have quite a lot of experience.
I am going to note down important events, dialogue and hidden items so that you
don't miss out. This means major spoilers.

As you start the game you will meet Professor Rowan. After introducing himself,
you will get three options, 'Control Info', 'Adventure Info' and 'No Info
Needed'. 'Control Info' tells you the controls, 'Adventure Info' tell you about
your adventure and 'No Info Needed' lets you start the game. When you start
Professor Rowan introduces you to Pokemon, then you have to pick your gender
and name your character and your rival. After this a news report will appear
telling you about a search team looking for a red Gyarados. Go down the stairs
and your mom will start talking to you about how your rival came by and told
you to go see him. When you try to leave your house she will talk to you some
more. Then leave.

Go to the top left house and when you try to go in you'll bump into your rival.
He will start telling you to come to the lake you live near and that he's going
to fine you $1 million if you're late. Then he runs off and realizes he has
forgotten something and runs back in his house. Go into his house and go up the
stairs and your rival will start saying he is going to fine you $10 million if
you're late. Go down the stairs, go outside and go north into Route 201.

After you meet your rival, he will talk to you about the news report. Go west
into Verity Lakefront.

Go north into the forest and you will appear in Lake Verity.

Here you will find Professor Rowan and Dawn/Lucas examining the lake. After
some dialogue they head towards you and then they will leave. Your rival will
notice they left there suitcase and lead you towards it, then you will be
attacked by a Starly. You will open the suitcase; in there you will find three
Pokeballs. The first one from the left is Turtwig.

/ Turtwig \-------------------------------------------------------------------
|Turtwig is the grass starter; it evolves into Grotle and then Torterra which \
|is a Grass/Ground type. Turtwig is good for the first gym, bad for the |
|second, good for the fourth, good for the sixth, bad for the seventh and will|
|fair quite well against the elite 4 and will only have some trouble with the |
|first member, using bug type. Turtwig has great Defense and Attack and it's |
|Special Attack is quite good. Turtwig learns Razor Leaf at level 13 making it|
|very useful early in the game. When it evolves into Torterra it learns |
|Earthquake, a great move to have. Turtwig grows to learn Absorb, Mega Drain, |
|Leech Seed, Synthesis and Giga Drain. The final move I can recommend for |
|Turtwig is Crunch, giving it versatility. So a great moveset for Turtwig |
|would be Earthquake, Leech Seed, Giga Drain/Razor Leaf and Crunch, this |
|moveset is great to match Turtwig's stats. I think that Turtwig would have to/
\be the second hardest starter to use./---------------------------------------

The middle one is Chimchar.

/ Chimchar \------------------------------------------------------------------
|Chimchar is the fire starter; it evolves into Monferno and then Infernape \
|which are both Fire/Fighting type. Chimchar is not good for the first gym |
|unless you evolve it beforehand at level 14, good for the second, bad for the|
|fourth, good for the sixth, good for the seventh and won't do to well in the |
|elite 4 because of the second member, using ground type, the fourth member, |
|using psychic type and the champion, using three Pokemon that you may have |
|some trouble with. Chimchar has great Attack, Special Attack and Speed and |
|its Defense and Special Defense are quite good. Chimchar learns Mach Punch |
|when it evolves into Monferno at level 14, which is very good considering the|
|first gym, is rock type. I recommend Flame Wheel because it is an effective |
|fire type move that does not have any side effects. At level 36 Monferno |
|learns Close Combat, a strong move, but it lowers your Defense and Special |
|Defense and since Monferno doesn't have remarkable Defense or Special Defense|
|I don't think you can afford to do that unless you use it as a finishing move|
|or as a last resort. Another good move to have is Flare Drive, it is very |
|strong but it does give recoil damage, meaning you should use this as a |
|finishing move or last resort. So a great moveset for Chimchar would be Flame|
|Wheel, Close Combat, Flare Drive and Mach Punch (because you can't use Close |
|Combat every turn and it only has five pp). I think that Chimchar would have |
\to be the hardest starter to use. /

The last one on the right is Piplup.

|Piplup is the water starter; it evolves into Prinplup and then Empoleon which\
|is a Water/Steel type. Piplup is good for the first gym, bad for the second |
|gym, bad for the fourth gym, bad for the eighth gym and will fair quite well |
|against the elite 4 and will only have some problems with two of the |
|champions Pokemon. Piplup has great Special Attack and Special Defense and |
|its Attack and Defense are quite good. Two recommended moves would be: |
|Bubblebeam and Brine because they are both quite strong and have good |
|effects. A good move to have would be Drill Peck for versatility and |
|strength. The final move I would recommend would be Hydro Pump because it is |
|strong but lacks accuracy and that is why you have two other water type moves|
|for when Hydro Pump runs out of pp or if the opponent has used Double Team or|
|Smokescreen. So the best moveset for Piplup would be Bubblebeam, Brine, Drill|
|Peck and Hydro Pump, this moveset is great to match Piplup's stats. I think |
\that Piplup would have to be the easiest starter to use. /

After you choose your starter you will begin battle with a Starly, this battle
should be absolutely no problem and is just designed to give you a feel of the
battle system. After you defeat the Starly Dawn/Lucas will come and remember
that they left the suitcase and take it away. There will be some dialogue and
then your rival will lead you out.

five Pokeballs. You may want to get a Shinx, which will help a lot but isn't
very strong stat-wise, however, when it comes to fighting Gyarados' Shinx saves
a lot of stress. As for Kricketot, forget about it, don't even consider it,
it's useless. Train any caught Pokemon to lv. 5 or 6 for an advantage or you

north, you will be stopped by the president of the Poketch Company and he will

Poketch Company building (the one with flags on top) and the answer is yes. The
third one is east in front of the TV station (with a big screen on it) and the
answer is yes. After you get them all, go back to the president and he will
give you the Poketch. You will start off with 4 applications which will grow as
you progress throughout your adventure. Go into the house in the north-east
section of the city and talk to the girl to get a Quick Claw. Go west into
Route 218.

- Go back to Eterna Forest and right by the exit is an area with trees blocking
the way in. Cut one of them and go north. Next to the house is an Ether. Go
into the house and enter the room right in front of you. When you go in you
will see a man, he will float away. Go west and pick up an Antidote from the
bin at the back. Leave the room and go up the left set of stairs. Go into the
room on the left to pick up an Old Gateau. Leave and go north into a room, go
all the way west into another room to pick up a Dread Plate. Leave and go into
the room all the way east to pick up TM90 Substitute. That's all to do in this
house until later so now we can leave.
- In route 205, south of the exit of Eterna Forest use Cut on one of the trees.
Continue south, then go west and talk to the girl to get a Big Tree. Go south,
then west to get SilverPowder, then go east to pick up TM82 Sleep Talk. Now go
west, north, then west and Cut one of the trees. Go all the way south, then go
west back to Floarama Town. Go south into route 204 and Cut the tree, go east
and talk to the girl to get TM78 Captivate. Now we have to go all the way back

go north then east and use Cut, then continue east to get TM46 Thief. Go back
and use Cut to get out. Go to the bike shop and talk to the man you just saved

pressing B. Now go south into a building and talk to the man, he is Professor
Rowans assistant and Dawn's father, he gives you an Exp. Share if you have seen

Go east and you will find a Buneary running towards you and a girl running
after it. She's a Pokemon Super Contest Judge. Continue east, then go north
into the red roofed house, that is the Pokemon fan club, talk to the chairman
and he will give you the Poffin Case. Go into the building to the right, go up
the elevator and talk to a girl to get a Shell Bell, a good item to have. If
you want to go to Amity Square go north past the gym and you'll see a building.
However, you can only take in: Pikachu, Clefairy, Psyduck, Pachirisu, Happiny,
Buneary and Drifloon. In there you can pick up items for contests. Go west
until you find a strange haired girl in front of the big round hall. She will
introduce herself as Fantina the Gym leader of Hearthome, you can't fight her
yet though. Go into the hall and you will meet your mom and that girl you
helped before. There will be a lot of talking and eventually the girl will give
you the Glitter Powder for your Fashion Case and will disappear. You'll be left
with your non-stop talking mom, she will give you a Tuxedo to put on in
contests. She will eventually fly away. If you want to take part in a contest,
go for it. It's pretty much the same as before, you start with a dress up game,
then a dancing game and then performance, in which you perform moves to get
hearts. If you go to the house right of the Pokemon center you can meet Bebe,
the owner of the PC system. Go to the house next to the Poke Mart and you can
make Poffin, you need berries. Now try to leave but beware, you will be
challenged by your rival.

Here you can go to the Great Marsh, which is like the Safari Zone. If you go to
the second floor and look through one of the binoculars you can see one of the
Pokemon that you can catch in each area of the Great Marsh, they change every
day so make sure you take advantage. When you go in, talk to the green-haired
guy to get HM05 Defog. In Pastoria City talk to the girl with the pink umbrella
to get a mask of the starter that is strong against yours. I think that there's
no need to go to the next area so we must go back to Veilstone, however, you
could fight the gym leader and/or go to route 212 which I will cover later. So
back to Veilstone.

\fighting/fire/ground type. Meditite should be really easy \
\with a strong flying type (around 27).However, Machoke is \
\harder; you need to use that flying/psychic type, but, \
\Machoke has Rock Tomb making a bit harder for a flying type, \
\but you should do fine. As for Lucario, here's where the \
\fighting/fire/ground type comes in. Lucario is a fighting and\
\steel type, therefore we need to aim for the steel type \
\weaknesses, because flying/psychic are useless against steel \
\types. I used Rock Smash, which is good because it lowers \
\defense, but if you have Ponyta or something like a Shellos \
\you should do fine. \

\is the most annoying unless you have an electric type, if you\
\got some Revives the best thing you can hope for is a Giga \
\Impact, send out a fast Pokemon to attack it twice before it \
\attacks you and then depending how strong your Pokemon is you\
\may be able to fit in some more hits. Crobat will us an \
\annoying Confuse Ray, it isn't too hard even if you don't \
\have an electric type Pokemon. \

After you beat him he will talk and team Galaxy will disappear for he rest of

Flint; a member of the elite 4. He then asks you to challenge the gym leader
and beat him, to inspire him. Go east, then north into the big building. Talk
to the man at the back to buy seals. You need the seal case which we got back
in Solaceon Town. The seals change every day, so be sure to check back every
day. Go east up the stairs, east, south, east down the stairs to pick up a
Thunderstone. Go east, use Rock Climb, go into the house and talk to the man.
He will ask to see a Pokemon of a specific nature for a Poketch application:
- Serious - Calendar Poketch application
- Naive - Dot Artist Poketch application
- Quirky - Roulette Poketch application
That's all of them. You should now have all of the Poketch applications up to
19. Leave the house and go near the sailor next to the house. Go west, north,
west, south down the stairs, west, north and you will be stopped by a girl. She
introduces herself as Jasmine; gym leader of Olivine City in Johto (Gold,
Silver and Crystal of 2000). She will tell you that without the gym badge you
can't continue. If you want to get in some more training before the gym this is
a great opportunity. However, it is completely optional and a long and tiring
journey. If you wish to go on this long and tiring journey, Surf north into
route 223.

After you beat her, she talks, then you get on the platform, you go into
another room and Cynthia catches up to you. Then Prof. Rowan comes, there's
some more talking and you go into another room. They talk some more and then
you put your Pokemon on a Pokemon center machine-like-thing and then there's a
cool slide show of your Pokemon. It saves and then there is an animation of you
riding your bike along with the credits. If you restart you will end up back
home. That's the end of the main part of the game.
