Rockman.EXE 5 DS: Twin Leaders

Being a lucky person to grab the imported Twin Leaders, I figured it would be
worthwhile to try submitting my first in-depth FAQ. My name is MajinTB, under
the same name in the GameFAQs Message Boards. My AIM is MajinTeeBee and I would
greatly appriciate contribution for information!

Version(s):

June 17,2006:
Minor and last update for this FAQ, adding in Forte XX and scrapping any known
traces of that 5th TP chip, no one needs it anyway XD.

Dec 24, 2005:
Merry Xmas! =D Upon netbattling, I discovered something new under the Cross
section. Still nothing on a 5th TP chip and I doubt it's even there...so it's
finally version 2.0!

Dec 06, 2005:
Added the 4.5 email section and minigames, also listed out my folder for people
to see. I'm still in need of TP chips people! I want to make this version 2.0!
=D

October 23, 2005:
Guess this would be say 1.9? I don't see much more to be discovered, and with
university, I don't have time to go and find things (not only that, I can't
read japanese >_< ). For now it's just going to be put on hold until someone
comes up with something new and tells me.

August 27, 2005
Say hello to Version 1.5. I've added in Navi combos, Navi assists, special
thanks and Navi P.Customizer spaces. Still deciding on translating the EXE 4.5
Email and solving the puzzle..seems too much of a spoiler. Fixed the spacing
error and cleaned up the FAQ. Until next time!

August 24, 2005
This is the first version (1.0) of the DS-exlusive FAQ. As soon as I can gather
more detailed information, I will update it. No flashy ASC-II art in this
version, so bear with me. I'm trying to get a hold of a fully translated
EXE 4.5 Email given to you from the golden program. So hold on tight folks!

Lets get this DS-exclusive FAQ started, shall we?

:: Random but useful Tidbits :: (RAND)

First off, the introduction of TP chips allow you to customize your squad by
substituting navi for navi. As of this update, I've only been able to find 4
out of the 5 chips. During liberation, an option will show up (usually under
the order point tech) which shows how many TP chips you have left. You can
substitue a navi for it's same class (scout for scout) and also have the
ability to revert them back. However, by reverting, you lose your TP chip for
the entire mission! Due to the really annoying and confusing situation where
the locations of my TP chips are not identical to anybody else's TP chips,
I'm going to state that I found my 4 TP Chips with 180 Standard, 12 Dark,
Forte SP defeated, and Nebula Grey defeated. Not known yet, but there may be
restrictions to finding the last of the TP chips.

Known TP Chips:

In the Filtercom atop of Oran (before Meijin-san) if you plug in, an orange
female navi sells the TP chip for 3000z

From Forte SP X 2: "Beat one game, get a TP chip in an email in your other
game"..meaning, if you were to finish Team Colonel and start a Team of
Blues game, a TP chip will appear in an Email!

From Coolguy
14783: "The lotto number for a TP Chip from GameFAQs: 85375720"

Ah, my memory came back to me, the 4th TP chip is in a PMD in Scilab area 1!
At least one member from Team of Blues/Colonel should still be in the
liberation! :P

Next up..new and only to the DS..is the Map Data scattered in every area of
the internet. The touch screen shows a fairly simple map layout, great for
players who don't want to move their neck and look up, or for those who get
easily lost. The first 2 maps are given to you at the start of the game, but
from there on, you've got to look for BMD in every single map to find the Map
Data. I've gone in too deep into both ToC and ToB, so I cannot recall where
each and every map data is, so I'll leave that to someone who has the time
and effort to find them all. Personally, I think its more fun to run around
and find them without the use of a map.

:: Team Navis and Party Customizer :: (TNPC)

A very nifty feature brought into EXE 5 is the ability to do a team combo
during battle. By going into Full Synchro and Navi switching to a team member,
some combos initiate special attacks. For instance, a combo I find very fun
is to get a Mugen Vulcan / Infinite Vulcan Program Advance, counter the
enemy, then switch to Napalm Man for the team combo. Rockman and Napalm Man
both charge up, Napalm Man fires his vulcans and Rock fires a Super Vulcan
with him, firing enough bullets to tear the virus/boss into pieces (and on
top of Mugen / Inf Vulcan...ow). Note that within the game they state that
you are only allowed 3 switches between navis per battle, so you are only
allowed 2 combos during a fight. However, if you find a Party switch program
for your Navi Customizer, you can switch up to 5 times per battle!

Now, with the introduction of team navis comes the Party Customiser. Its a
pseudo Navi Customizer for your party members, with the only limitations
being the number of rectangles each program takes, and the fact you cannot
place 2 colors next to each other. Some teammates can handle more programs
than others, thus, it's not *very* customizable. Programs are shown with a
prefix of P. before the name. I've found program groups like:

P.HP MAX +
P.Attack +
P.Chip +
Battle Pack
Assist program.

The two Battle packs take up 4 or 7 white colored slots.

4 blocks giving HP + 50, Chip + 30 and Attack + 1
while 7 blocks give HP + 200, Chip + 40 and Attack + 2

The assist program lets the teammate assist you in battle without actually
having to switch to them and wasting a switch! For example, if Knightman
wears an assist program, there's a chance he jumps infront of Rock to take
the damage, leaving you without a scratch! Or Gyroman starts off the battle
by twirling his blades and pulling the enemy to the front row. Rockman has
his own Navi Customizer program Assist, in which you can install it (one
plain white block) on his command line, and when you are not using Rockman
in the fight, he jumps in to assist with mini bombs, longswords and cannons.

Attack + and HP + explain themselves, and Chip + adds damage to the navi's
Special Chip (Example: C-Cannon for Colonel).

For your reading pleasure, a description of the Assist Programs:

Tomahawkman: Leaps infront of Rock to do his 2x3 swing randomly.

Shadowman: When Rock is low on HP, Shadowman releases a Jutsu that
spreads on the battlefield, damaging and confusing all enemies.

Knightman: Steps infront of Rock and negates damage taken everytime.
*EDIT* He only does this until he reaches 1 HP, then stops.

Colonel: Fires the C-Cannon at the start of each turn.

Numberman: When loading 2 chips of the same code, Numberman randomly
freezes time and throws 2 dice, the addition of the dice amount
 x10 add to the damage on the next chip (2 + 2 = 4 x 10 = 40 dmg).

Toadman: At the time of death, Toadman sings and ressurects you with 230 hp.

Blues: Like Colonel, attacks at the start of the turn, swinging a widesword
to the nearest enemy.

Napalm Man: Occasionally appears to fire some vulcan shots and leaves.

Medii: Gives Rock a much needed Pick-Me-Up when he's low on HP every turn.

Searchman: Appears when an enemy has a loaded chip, fires and destroys
their selected chip.

Magnetman: A free "magnet" barrier when low on HP.

Gyroman: Pulls enemies to the front row for 2 turns.

Here are the combos I have personally tested out:
(more to come if anymore exist)
Rockman - Searchman
Rockman - Colonel
Rockman - Blues
Rockman - Napalmman
Rockman - Numberman
Rockman - Knightman
Shadowman - Colonel
Shadowman - Toadman
Tomahawkman - Knightman
Napalmman - Meddi
Magnetman - Gyroman
Magnetman - Blues

And here are the slots each navi has for their Customizer:

Blues - 6 Slots
Gyroman - 8 Slots
Searchman - 6 Slots
Napalm Man - 8 Slots
MagnetMan - 5 Slots
Medii - 10 slots

Colonel - 8 Slots
Shadowman - 6 Slots
Tomahawkman - 6 Slots
Numberman - 10 Slots
Toadman - 8 Slots
Knightman - 5 Slots

                         :: Axess Menu :: (AXSS)

While not many of us can read Japanese, here's a translated sneak peak at the
touch screen PET during the game. Excuse my crude drawing.

Folders allows you to equip and customize your folder, while Status shows
Rockman's status, souls, Navi Customizer, access to Team member stats and the
Party Customizer. Link allows you to wireless link up with other DS's and
netbattle from there. It requires you to put in a name and a short description
of yourself (which also is your room title).

The screen is as such:

Please note: to initiate a netbattle, the game uses a Create & Join
system, one must create while the other waits and joins the room.
The DS booklet claimed that 10 M is the longest range for decent
connectivity.

The Subchip menu is now neatly laid out for you with chip name, amount,
information, and your party member's HP along the top. A static picture of
Rockman standing there gives the menu a - oh wait, he blinked! My gosh this
PET is so advanced (XD). Here's the basic layout:

Emails are divided up into 3 main groups: Business (Mostly Enzan/Barrel emails),
Friends and Misc emails (from Scilab or others).

The Map database shows all the areas interconnected and if you have the map
data for that area. It also branches off into Homepages and other important
networks. By selecting an area like Akihara 1 and tapping/selecting it, the
PET brings up the entire map of that area. You can use the touch screen or
the D-pad to move the map around to get a better view or a total view of the
area. Dungeon maps are included by pressing L in the map screen.

Library is pretty self explanitory. The headings are: Standard -> Mega -> Giga
-> Dark -> Secret -> Program Advance(s). By tapping "next" at the bottom right
or pressing right on the D-pad can flip the pages.

Ah, key items! These, like emails, are divided up into groups for your sanity.
Capcom finally got their stuff together and got organized! :O Anyway, the first
header is Story Related key items, then the collection of all the Homepages,
then a list of all the Map Datas collected, and finally a list of the Navi
Customizer Spin programs.

....Come on people, i'm not gonna describe what save is and how it works (XD),
live a little and try saving if you have never done it before!

                            :: Crosses :: (CRSS)

Ever since the Japanese Rockman site posted photos of Sol Cross Rock (SCR) and
Forte Cross Rock (FCR), the boards have been lit up with questions and theories.
Battling against a Sol Cross Rock and a Forte Cross Rock, I will clear up
any doubts amoung the people. FCR is obtained by defeating Forte SP in Nebula 6
as a random encounter. Once slotting in the cart, you get the FCR as your
default Rockman (provided the cart is not removed!). SCR is obtained
 by
slotting in Boktai 3. The Crosses are NOT soul unisons nor Cross Fusions! They
merely replace and add onto the default Rockman. While in a cross, you are still
able to Soul Unison with
fellow navis. Important note! Just recently I have
found that if you use any Team of Blues or Team of Colonel GBA cart, you can
have both Gold and Silver FCR for the listed version! With a Team of Blues cart
in the DS and loaded a Team of Colonel game, you gain Silver FCR, but if the
Team of Blues cart is in and you choose a Team of Blues game, you get the Gold
FCR!

These are the stats for all 3 crosses:

Silver FCR (meant for speed) [Team of Colonel]
----------
HP + 20%
FloatShoes
Hells Rolling Buster Charge shot
Normal Body
Megafolder -2
Tri-shot buster

Gold FCR (meant for power) [Team of Blues]
--------
HP +200
SuperArmor
Machine Gun Buster Charge
Normal Body
Megafolder -2
Tri-shot buster

Sol Cross Rock
--------------
HP + 200
SuperArmor
Megafolder -2
Gun Del Sol Charge shot
Attack + 20 on all chips via charging (auto charges from +0 to +20)
HP regeneration after battle
Twice the effectiveness for all Gun Del Sol chips when plugged in from outside

Note that all of these are only in effect with the gba game IN the slot! There
are untested but non-legit methods of getting these for the DS without the use
of the original cart. I will not cover those.

*Addition*
By slotting in Rockman.EXE 1/2/3/4/4.5/5 and staying in a cross,
one can face Forte XX, but if you aren't in SolCross or ForteCross, you get
Forte SP.

:: War folder Contents :: (WRFL)

By slotting in Rockman.EXE 1, a black navi will appear in Undernet 4, giving
you the option to download the War Folder. Here are the contents of that
folder (chip names taken from [and credited to] H0tSh0tZ1267's Chip list FAQ):

                       :: Boktai Effects :: (BOKT)

By inserting any of the three Boktai games, the samurai statue in the End
Castle changes to Otenko. The fighter statue that asks to do the 100 dummy
whacking game becomes a 1000 Bat swatting game for Crossover Points. Also,
a Crossover Battle Point trader appears in Oran Area 2 and the SCR is
available (with boktai 3 only). By trading in 50 points, there's a chance to
get the ever-so useful Gun Del Sol EX G chip or Otenko-sama O Chip! The
Otenko-sama trader is at the far right of Oran Area 2, and it acts like a
chip trader, so the results are varied depending on how many points you put
in it. Note: For the english version, Boktai 3 is replaced by Boktai 2 since
Boktai 3 does not exist.

                       :: E-reader cards :: (ERDR)

Upon reading the Rockman Perfect Memories post regarding e-reader card effects,
they noted that these effects are false rumors spread about as of now.
However, there are some *cough*Ryken*cough* who are scrambling to uncover this
E-Reader mystery. Edit: I bet he gave up due to RPM or TUS claiming there is
none :P.

                       :: Free Space :: (FSPC)

Examining the large Free Space board located in Higure's chip shop, one
can see that they can buy Navi chips from the opposite version for 30,000z.
However, by comparing your library with another friend who has navi chip
data from the opposite version, you are able to order them from Higure's
chip order service for only 20,000z! Saves you 10,000z per chip, and helps
complete the Secret section of the Library. Just thought i'd pass on some
useful wisdom to all the fellow players. There needs to be more zenny in
this game -_-.

Next place, go to Endo Area and go through the museum. Until you get to the

There should be a Blue Mystery Data. Open, and BANG, 50K Zenny! \o/ For the
win."

:: If you Must Know... ::

I've had some people ask me of my folder build, in which allowed me to get the
TP chips and just for the game in general. I do not follow any pre-set builds,
nor do I go for ultimate power; also, my folder is for Team Colonel. So, that
being said, here it is:

Vulcan 3 L/M/N
FirePunch 3 E/F/G
CountBomb 1/2/3 H/H/H
BambooLance *
Recov 300 x2 Y
Fast Gauge * (as Regular chip)
Invis *
Bubble Wrap Y
Kawarimi / Anti-dmg *
Atk + 10 (for Numbersoul)
Gaurdian O
DreamAura/LifeAura D
Sanctuary S
Bugbomb A
Deathmatch/Geddon 3 A
Anubis A
Z Saber Z (removed if in a Cross due to Megachip -1)
GunDelSol EX G (for fun, since I got it from the trader =D )
Leader's Raid L
Forte Another F (does 640 dmg if all hit, might not be as useful as Lord of
Chaos but it hurts much more)
Dark Invis * (Chaos Shadow Soul)
Dark Attack + * (Chaos Number Soul)
DarkWide T (Chaos Toad Soul)

Yeah, yeah, accuse me of having the alphabet soup and power hungry chips,
it's there to be used! :P
