Contains Japanese in Shift-JIS format.
To see it correctly, make sure you have Japanese support installed, then:
Choose the "View" menu in your browser
Choose the "Encoding"/"Character Coding" entry (or similar, depends on browser)
Find and select "Japanese (Shift-JIS)", you may have to look through a few
sub-menus
Now this FAQ should display Japanese characters correctly.

Oo ... Translation Notes ............................................. oO

I am by no means an expert on Japanese cuisine or the language used in
cooking and recipes. But hopefully these translations will be helpful
even if they're not 100% accurate.

Oo ... Controls ...................................................... oO

The game and menus are controlled almost entirely by the stylus.
Start button is used for pausing while in-game.

Oo ... Gameplay ...................................................... oO

You cook various recipes through a series of mini games performing the
various tasks needed for each dish.
For example, to make rice, you pour water, pour rice, stir the pot, then set
the timer.
If you find a some mini games particularly challenging you can use the practice
mode to run through just those.

When you clear certain recipes more recipes will be opened up and added
to the menu.
For example when you're done making the boiled egg the fried egg recipe will
be added to the menu.

Some recipes allow you to change to a more complicated version of that
dish while you are making it, doing so also opens up a new recipe.
For example, while making the hamburger a menu will come up asking if you
want to change to hamburger steak instead. If you choose to do so the
hamburger steak will be added to menu once you have finished it.

After each mini-game you get a grade of gold, silver or bronze.
At the end of each recipe, if you do well, you get a gold, silver or bronze
medal that gets attatched to that recipe in the menu.

Once you have gone through a mini game in a recipe you can play it
separately to test your skills.

You can also combine two recipies together for a more advanced recipe.

Oo ... Mini Game Guide ................................................. oO

The mini games are for the most part self explanatory or have arrows or
other graphical hints on the screen.
But a few of them are hard to figure out without the instructions that
are given in Japanese.

- General Hints

A little white cloud symbol is used in several games to signal the player
to blow into the mic on the DS.

Mini-games with frying: in several of them the food gets nice and golden brown
in two steps, and if you take the food out before the second step it's not
done, and you won't get a gold medal.

o .... Let's Cook/Grill (にてみよう!/やいてみよう!)
This is the mini-game that's like a dance or rhythm game.
There are two versions, one with a pot and one with a pan,
but several of the commands overlap.
There's a scroller on the top screen, and you to perform certain actions when
a bar passes over the line.

Japanese...Translation..Symbol................Action required

よわく Turn down Small yellow flame Put heat gauge on yellow
ふつうた Medium Medium orange flame Put heat gauge on orange

o .... Let's fry the right number (かずでやいてみよう!)
A frying pan to the left and dumplings on a tray to the right.
The goal is to put the correct number of dumplings into the pan.
Mama will tell you how many but you have to add up the numbers she mentions.
So if she says that Mama wants 1, Papa wants 2 and the kid wants 2
you should put 5 dumplings into the pan.
The text is in Japanese but the numbers are just numbers so they are readable.
Once you're done putting the correct number of dumplings into the pan,
push the red button.
There is no timer here.

o .... Hot Hot Peel (アツタツむき!)
A hand to the left and a tray of potatoes on the right.
Move the potato onto the hand, and then peel the flaps from the middle out.

o .... Egg Mixing (タマゴをとこう!)
The eggs are stirred by quickly changing the direction of the stirring.
That is, first stir clockwise briskly a few times, then switch direction and
stir briskly counter clockwise. Avoid bubbles. Continue until the time is up.

o .... Timer Setting (タイマーをセット!)
Number pad on the botton screen.
Mama will tell you the time on the top screen.
Enter it on the number pad and press the button on the bottom right.

Oo ... Recipe List ..................................................... oO

It seems the order might be random, but this is layout in my game.
