Don't believe that a confused enemy is an easy target, that's total crap right there. NOBODY stands still if they cant see; they run about like a chicken w/ it's head cut off. aim for the head, but decide whether you like to shoot fast and inaccurate, or slow and precise, either works. Maintain your composure; volt takes more precision than every other weapon.

Use it as Kanden, he has a bonus with it. Use charged shots to disorient the target and then fire away.

Answer

Have a charged shot whenever you aren't fighting, and pick up lots of ammo. The volt driver needs it.

There's an optimal rhythm for shooting volt shots really fast. Tapping L too quickly will make it fire slower than it does when tapping at the optimal rhythm.

Aim is also really important. An uncharged volt headshot does 1.5 times the damage of a body shot, but missing does no damage at all. It might help to play on a higher sensitivity so you can turn around effectively in a close-quarters battle.

Kanden's charge shot homes, and can potentially be really annoying in large, open stages and laggy Wi-Fi matches on any stage (don't count on this happening, but it's worth knowing so you can take advantage of it when it does). The non-affinity charge shot is a lot quicker, and is useful for ambushes.

The volt works better on some stages than others, tending to be more effective at low to medium range, so know what stages you want to pick as Kanden. Sanctorus, Incubation Vault, Fuel Stack, and Stasis Bunker are a few examples of stages that present opportunities to volt assault an opponent in a small area or two-way corridor.
