How to shoot down the UFO?

Do I need to run to the top of the screen to shoot down the UFO ?

..and how fast does he move from one side to another(aprox)? I heard that he's a lot faster than a balloon.

He is much faster than the gift tied to balloons. The main reason to shoot down the UFO is to get the Metroid furniture Gulliver drops.

Yes, you should be towards the top of the town.

He is pretty fast. You have to basically be waiting for him with the slingshot out to get him.

Be ready with your slingshot out, a gold one may help better.

I heard that he only comes when the clock's time ends with a 3 or a 7 ex. 7:53.

It is very hard to get him unless you are already at the top with a slingshot out. A gold one makes it much easier though.
