So, is the gameplay like other Mario games? I guess I'm asking...is it similar to New Super Mario Bros. for the DS?
It's kind of similar but still pretty different. Running is automatic (instead incorporating a "walk" button), you can pick up enemies (sort of similar to SMB2), you can jump on enemies or attack them with your umbrella, and progressing through and finding secret areas on the levels often requires using one of the emotions available to Peach.
To me, it sort of feels like a combination of SMB, SMB2, and Yoshi's Island. I'm sure Youtube has plenty of videos you can check out.
