Super Princess Peach

Review by MTGxerxes

"Feeling the vibe of Peach's first game, it's a good one"

When I first saw this game, I thought it would be pretty cheesy, and not really worth my time. I heard that it is compatible with the rumble pack, and a buddy of mine said that the game was quite funny. So I decided to pick it up after all. After just a short time of playing, I knew I would really enjoy the game. I was feeling a vibe (no pun intended) of a game that combined Yoshi's Island and Super Mario World. But nobody else agrees with me on that. Anyway, onto the important stuff

Graphics: 9/10
Maybe it is because I'm playing on a DS Lite, so I played on an old one. I was wrong. The game looks great, the colors are 'vibe'rant. A few things could have been better sure, but this game isn't for it's graphics and they are definitely good enough to suit the game as it is.

Audio: 10/10
It sounds like the Mario games we all know and love, peaceful catchy music when need be, and you can almost feel Peach's anger when she goes mad. Jumping on some Goombas has rarely sounded better, I couldn't imagine this to sound any different. Peach can even get her own band!

Story: __-9/10
I didn't really know what to put for this one. Blank to nine is my input. Instead of the usual Peach gets captured, Mario and Luigi tag up to save the day, it's been inverted. A neat little idea. Without that idea this game would never existed. Outside of that however, there isn't much story...but the game doesn't need it. We didn't need it before, and this game doesn't either. So it's perfectly okay to be a little lacking here.

Controls: 10/10
Some games, as soon as it starts, I run around for a few minutes, push all the buttons, find out what does what and test out what I can do and see how it all works. This game needed none of that. Everything that I did was perfectly smooth and easy the first time. Everything happens as you expect it to when you push the button. I don't know if I've ever played a game with a smoother moving protagonist. The parts where you jump on rubber bands with the touch screens that others complain about, are really not bad at all. First try, got all the coins and moved on up perfectly. The only downside, is for people that don't like fingerprints on the touch screen and want to use her vibes, but that's not a big deal either.

Game play: 9/10
Did I mention it works with the Rumble pack? =D. Everything here is grand. It's a similar type of side scroll we've fallen in love with playing Mario, why not Peach? And her umbrella is just amazing, all the stuff that it can do. I want one of those myself Nintendo! There is a toad shop to buy stuff at as well for those who like a few extra things to do. The only thing I didn't like was saving 3 Toads in each level, it was fun at first...but after a few levels I stopped wanting to save them. But it's only three, rarely hard to find, not a big deal. Besides, you need to have something to collect and accomplish or else it would have no...

Replay: 8.5/10
Replay value. Beating all the levels again later and collecting all the toads adds a few things to the game. It's a fun quick play, good for long car rides or waiting in the Dentist office, or at home on the sofa. If you're the type of person who beats a game and is done with it, then this has no effect on you.

Overall: 10
The only reasons to not get this game, would be if you cannot afford it, don't own a DS, or don't wanna look like a sissy buying a Peach game. This last one is a crappy reason. It's not like the store clerk is going to laugh at you and put pictures of you on-line for buying it.
