Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
Review by DS_NERD1111
"Much better than other movie tie-in's"
Hello ds_nerd1111 here! I don't really contribute much to gamefaqs other than the message boards, so I thought I might do something to help the gaming community. So here it is- my first review for Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Chest for the ds.
Graphics 8/10
The graphics in this game are quite nice. The levels and caracters are fluidly pleasing to the eye. The only complain here is the faces of the characters. They seem sort of pixeled but that's really no problem. You'll always know who your playing as. The levels in the game are very detailed. You can see the mist in the swamps, the lights in the windows, and the details of the streets. Overall the only reason these did not get a 9 was because of some slight pixelzation problems.
Gameplay 9/10
The gameplay in the game is very addicting. The plot is based on the events in the upcoming movie. There is so much to do like find gold to unlock new characters, weapons, and finding jewels to unlock new moves. The game follows the upcoming movie Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Chest so be expecting some pirate fun. The game takes you through movie locations and beyond. Locations like port royal and the black pearl will be featured. The combat in the game takes a bit of thinking. Some emenies require a heavy attack followed by a few kicks. The jewels you will find in the levels will unlock new combos to keep fighting exciting. The attack system has two basic attacks heavy and quick and a specail move for each character to use when things get sticky. And for those of you who enjoy a challege there is a nightmare mode. There is also a tag team for you and a friend where you each to choose a character to help each other out in levels.
The mini games they offer trough out the game are not really that fun but you might get a kick out of shoot the monkey. This part of the game is where I give bgv games much credit.
Sound 7/10
The music in the game is from the movie. Hans Zimmer does a wonderful job of giving you the mood of a pirate. All of the levels music sound great giving you a feel of errieness when you need it. The weapons sound all sound as they should. The music does tend to get repenitive during the late part of the game.
Replay Value 9/10
The replay value in the game is quite high. Finding all the statues of the characters and unlocking everything is one of the objectives in the game. The mini games are sometimes enjoyable. You could even beat the game in all six languages for fun which is what I'm doing.
All in all, this was a very enjoyable games which will last you a very long time with all it's fun. Well, thank you for your time. Be looking for more contributions from me in the future.
