The Rub Rabbits!

Review by Arkrex

"Ridiculously goofy, and totally void of substance"

I had a bit of fun with 'Feel the Magic', but I thought its contemporary, WarioWare Touched edged it out in the fun & variety stakes. Now Sega gives us another shot of wacky, crazy humour mixed in with a more substantial package, but is it any better than the luke-warm original? Simply put, no.

GRAPHICS 7/10
The style shown is very unique to this series and is pleasant to the eye. Quirky animations are shown, but very little, since most of the game is told in storyboards and the playing moments are limited within each scene. Just like the original, no better.

SOUND 8/10
Sounds are good, music is catchy, overall quality is very good, but more samples would not go unnoticed. The sound mixer unlocked once finished is too limited, especially as it seems to want to be more than what it is. Goofy.

GAMEPLAY 5/10
Here it falls flat. Just like the first game, albeit longer.. slightly. One can expect to finish the adventure in about 3 hours. Sure there is replay via time trials etc... but once done, you probably won't want to repeat the majority of the mini-games. For those that a keen, a bonus, more difficult side-adventure awaits, but for the rest of us, what's done is done.

The games are presented in some of the most peculiar ways. It is often funny to see what scene occurs next, and what you'll have to accomplish in order to save your loved one from danger. However the novelty wears thin very quickly and soon you'll just want it to end. A shame really. Nearly 2/3 of the games are not that much fun, and for those that are, subsequent replays lose their lustre faster than a man eating his steak (yes the zaniness is getting to me!) You'll laugh during certain parts upon seeing the ridiculousness of it all, but at the same time, you'll want to rush through it since it really is pretty derivative stuff hidden by crazy concepts and visuals.

One thing I must mention is that the balance is off, with several games being very difficult, followed by a bunch of easy ones. The last few levels are a breeze. Be prepared for some seiously rapid tapping in some sections. By the end of it all you'll be a bit sore, but you'll have unlocked a multitude of mostly useless stuff, like clothes to fashion your girl. The multiplayer games can be quite fun for a brief while, with the 'pass-the-ds' and 'make-your-own-baby' of honourable mention. But as with the rest of the game, they offer little substance. The key element, totally void in this title.

OVERALL 5/10
Shame on Sega for giving us a new title with a lot of great ideas and creativeness shown, but without enough game to go around. More like a tech-demo than anything else. Fun for a rent maybe, but you'd have to be as crazy as the characters in this game to even consider warranting a purchase. Look forward to the next WarioWare, however distant it seems. This is not worth your while.
