Mega Man ZX
Review by MarkoftheFighters
"Rock on!"
Megaman ZX? Is it a X or Z series? This game is more close to the Z series so Megaman Zero fans or players will expect what's coming.
The entire game is a huge map where you have to run back and forth to areas and discover new ones like Castlevania. Before you begin to play, you have the option to pick one of the two characters, a boy named Van and a girl named Aile. Both characters not connected in anyway nor are in the same universe. Both are different in attributes such as Van is stronger than Aile but Aile is more agile.
The game's intro seems to finish quickly so you can begin playing. As either character, you work for a delivery business called Giro Express run by a man named Girouette. The story begins with a jobs for you and Girouette to deliver a biometal which you later discover, the item you use to transform. Both you and Girouette are under attack by some evil Mavericks (robots) that want to retrieve that biometal and soon enough, the biometal responds to you and your character is able to transform into the first form, Model X. Model X is basically Megaman with a different look.
As you progress later into the game, you will acquire more biometals, each with different specialties and different use for the bottom screen. As mentioned earlier, the game is a huge map. There are a few "transervers" scattered throughout the game which is your save point and also where you pick up missions. There will be a handfull of missions for you that must be completed before you get a new batch. Some missions have bosses at the end that you will defeat and acquire new biometals that they hold. Other missions reward you with E Crystals which you use for upgrades for your forms though it would have been better if you were able to purchase more stuff.
I thought the graphics for this game would have been better but there are some anime-ish cutscenes which are nice. I'm glad the U.S. version didn't dub the voice acting or screw anything up. For new players, the game may be challenging but fans will probably have a good time. Luckily there is a Hard mode for true hardcore players which must be unlocked by clearing the game on Normal mode. The game does not really use all of the features of the Nintendo DS but the bottom screen is a nice addition. For each form/biometal/model, the bottom screen has a different feature. There won't be any touching nor would you actually use it as much because sometimes I don't notice. All the action will be on the top screen.
The new music mixes are nice and the area's theme matches well with it's background music making the game a bit more enjoyable when playing.
Overall, this game is awesome and I highly recommend this game for all Megaman fans or players in desperate need of a new DS game. Enjoy! 8/10
