Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime
Review by MFSoulia
"I feel brain dead in a good way."
As a fan of Dragon Quest, I was sure this would, at the least, be a fun spin-off. Well, I was right, but to be honest, I don't know why. Here is my evaluation of the game.
Gameplay:
Addictive, but this is where it stumps me. The gameplay is basic. All you do is travel around Various places to find your fellow slimes and collect things for your tank. That is about the sum of the main game, but oddly enough, it's addictive as hell and fun. From the time I got the game, I couldn't put it down, and yet, aside from tank battles, you don't do much. Speaking of tank battles, this is where the games strong point is. The battles are fun and (somewhat) quick paced, and requires strategy as well. Overall, the game was enjoyable.
Grade: A
Graphics:
The Graphics are really nice. The colorful environments and Character models suck you into the game. Animation is also quick and fluent, with no problems.
Grade: A
Sound:
The Games music is... Okay. Definitely not the best though. The musical tunes in the game are good enough to get stuck in your head for awhile, but will ultimately be forgettable. The sound effects aren't much to marvel over, either. Most of the sound effects sound like something ripped right out of the early SNES era, which don't cut it today. On the upside, the sound the slimes make when you slam them in the face is funny.
Grade: C
Controls:
Good. Not much else I can say about that. Everything moves at a fast pace and is responsive, which is good enough for me.
Grade: A+
Story:
This game has a story that is simple, but guaranteed to suck you in. In this game, all the inhabitants of your little Slime community are kidnapped by the "Plob" and it is up to you to save them. Although basic in premise, it guarantees that you play through to the end.
Grade: B
I hope this review helps you pick this game for your next purchase. I hope by this game becoming popular, that we might be able to bring more of this great series over to America.
