Bleach: The Blade of Fate

Review by Seriona Kira

"You'll be saying 'bankai' by the end"

Well, not really but you'll still be very into the game in few minutes time. Bleach DS: Souten ni Kakeru Unmei is a well-rounded awesome game. Even if you're not a fan of Bleach, or even anime, you'll still love this game. It's an awesome fighting game no matter who the characters your using are.

The various options of Bleach DS just enhance your game-play. For example, there's a training mode, story mode, vs mode, and even a WiFi mode. There are shops / stores that you can purchase items for your game. Buying voices, wallpaper, pictures and sounds just makes the game have a bit more incentive. There's now a reason to beat the game with all your characters.

This game can be called the rival to Super Smash Brothers Melee for the DS. Ignoring the fact that Jump Superstars has already claimed that title, of course.

However, unlike Jump Superstars, Bleach DS is quite easy to get used to. Even though you probably won't understand the language (being an import game) you'll be able to memorize it quite easily. It's very simple, impossible to get confused with even. The card system might be a bit complicated, but there are always guides for that sort of thing.

I'm not going to get into the whole control part of the game, however the basics are the following: B is to flash step (pretty much like teleporting), A, X & Y is for attacking, R is to block, and L is to switch the back / front parts of the stages.

Each character has different 'movies' and 'specials' they can use. For those who hate memorizing buttons and having to use attacks- this is where the Double Screen (DS!) comes in.

You can use the bottom screen to actually click the moves you want to use. Blue boxes are regular attacks, and red boxes are specials. There are also cards that you can click to boost up your character, or decrease the enemy.

Being a fighting game, this game has tremendous re-play value. You can always WiFi whenever you want, or just play against the computer. Buying the shop out may also be a challenge, so it's a never-ending game.

Overall: This a great fighting game, and if you're into anime or bleach then it's just more reason to get it. Definitely a BUY.
