Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Justice for All
Review by Solid Shrimp
"Objecton!"
It's time to talk about Phoenix Wright 2. I bought this game a few days ago and I've been playing for quite some hours, noticing the good, the bad and everything else, so, here's a review!
Story:
The story doesn't differ much from the prequel, Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: You're Phoenix Wright, an attorney, with the help of your friends you'll have to prove your client is innocent. Of course, this is easier said than done, because you have to deal with testimony-forging prosecutors, lying witnisses and paranormal activities. The main differences are your new sidekick, Pearl, Maya's cousin and the development of the older characters. Because nothing has really changed, I rate the story: 6/10.
Graphics:
Let me first tell you, this game is a GBA-port, therefor most graphics look rather dated, but because we're dealing with a GBA-game they are stunning. Detailed character designs, detailed area's, etc. I wou;d have never thought that it could be jammed into such a little cartridge, so I think we should look past the outer layers and into the deeper ones, then you'll truly see the magnificence. I can't go higher than an 8/10 though, it is a port after all.
Sounds:
Love it or hate it. I do the first. The music fits the situations, if nothing's happening, there's no music, if you're making a very important point during a case, a nice and speedy melody plays. To be honest, I never really like soundtracks, but this one, it's a beauty. If I could get the soundtrack, I'd buy it.
9.5/10, because nothing is perfect.
Gameplay:
This game has the most simple gameplay EVER, it's a simple point-and-click adventure, all you have to do, is use your styles to choose an option or a location on the map, it couldn't be simpler. What I don't like about this gameplay, is that you're restricted to a few options, there's no way to enter new area's without moving back and forth between places, which is rather irritating because you sometimes have to move 5 screens. Due to this little problem, I rate it 7/10.
Replay Value:
I'm terribly sorry, but once you've completed the game, there's nothing new to find. You can only win cases one way, there are no hidden levels, you don't learn a stupid magic spell, you would do the ame thing again. Fortunately, the game's hard, you have to try many things, before you know what to do, therefor, you will have forgotten a lot when you play it a few months later. This is based on my experiences with replaying the first game, and this one isn't all that different, as I have stated before. Let's give it a 6/10.
Final Verdict:
Story: 6/10
Graphics: 8/10</10>
Sounds: 9.5/10</10>
Gameplay: 7/10
Replay Value: 6/10
Average: 7.3/10. My final verdict will be 7/10.
