GoldenEye: Rogue Agent
Review by AlexOwns
"Hot Multiplayer Action, boring single player"
First of all, I would like to say I have mixed opinions on the first FPS for the DS. When I first got the game, I had expectations for a great game. Did I get it? Sort of...
GAMEPLAY- 7
Rogue Agent for the DS does great use of the dual screens. Especially in stylus mode where you aim using the touch screen. Fantastic use. But, sadly, this is the only great part of the gameplay. The single-player campaign mode was disappointing, to say the least. You get all of the game's weapons halfway through it, and the action is repetitive. You shoot, kill, and here comes another guy. The enemies have poor AI as they simply stand there and shoot you, like a retro arcade shooter. I found the game only enjoyable on the highest difficulty rating.
GRAPHICS- 8
It was a valiant attempt at competing with the PSP, semi-realistic. Although they are good to look at, they had a pixelated feel, where I believe the graphics could have been smoothed over to have a better feel. All of the enemies look the same, but then again, I suppose that concept is the same for every shooter.
SOUND- 6
The soundtracks gave a sort of techno-rock feeling that did not go well with the game. When you shoot someone, you want epic sounds, or a nice ambience. The music that was delivered to me did not leave any impressions, and went horribly with the game.
STORY- 5
You've been booted from MI6, and now you are working with evil people. Poor plot, very simple. I was hoping for more of a deep story like the rest of the 007 games. Then again, this is not a 007 game. This game does not deserve the name Goldeneye.
NOTES-
The only thing I truly enjoyed was the multiplayer aspect. This was the only fun I ever had with this game. If you are going to buy this game, I suggest play one campaign level and then skip straight to the sexyness of multiplayer.
