Mega Man ZX
Review by JessieBrown6
"Mix a Metroid/Catlevania gameplay with Megaman, and We've got a Great Game"
So your on a delivery mission, carrying a mysterious package and suddenly some robots attacks you and you get blown off to the platform below and meet the people your delivering too and at the same time using the same device from the "mysterious package" to transform into an embodiment of X to save them.
Thats where the main story starts off for our two new heroes, introducing our new Z series game.
Graphics: 9/10
The graphics are to awe at, considering the 2.5Dish look, and everything looks shiny and polished and such, they even have Anime Cutscences, not so many through. The Only complaint is that they use the same sprites for NPC's and I think they should all be unique considering there aren't many of them.
Sound:6/10
They're nice, the sounds fit the mood of the game. In the city you felt relaxed, in the HQ you felt to get ready for the mission and such, and the level you felt danger along with the enemies and such, and the boss music makes you feel in danger but, its just that its not enough variation, but its good nonetheless.
Story:7/10
The cliche save the world plot yet mixed and such, not alot of plot twist, but keeps you on the edge of your seat, waiting for more. Of course, they drown out the momentum with slow grind of the missions with not enough "excitement with them" yet enough not to "let you fully go." Its been that way for a while. In the side scroller games, the characters never talk enough but yet in the other games (IE:Battle Network) The characters talk too much. and balance needs to be put in.
Controls:8/10
The only thing that was bad here was getting used to the controls, it feels a bit awkward at first considering that you have to use this stuff and fast repetition, but nothing serious. you can usually handle this problem at the beginning at the game before it gets hardcore in the quick button switiching.
Gameplay:7/10
Its a great game and can bring you back to your roots of the old megaman games especially with the numberous things of EXE and other megaman coming out, it makes you think that the 2-d megaman is dying, but this is your comforter. Its 2-d play is nice, but most the abilities aren't needed most of the time and you'll end up sticking with one form unless your purposely trying to use different ones. The bottom DS screen is pretty unique but nothing special and its hard to keep the action on both screens without getting distracted from the other. It can be extremely useful, but some of the most popular Models don't even get a nice bottom screen function, and thus it is wasted.
Overall:9
Overall it was a great game despite its few flaws and limited touch screen abilities, its a pretty solid side scrolling megaman game and definitely a buy for megaman fans, but a rent for non megaman fans because they more thank likely won't get into the story especially if you haven't played Zero 3 where most of the plot comes from.
so it all comes down to your Knowledge of the story, but it never stops this from being a god game.
