Garfield: Tale of Two Kitties

Review by Mango Sauce

"Another "Just Ok" Garfield Game"

Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties

Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties is a game based on the movie of the same name, most Garfield games aren't outstandingly good, and usually not all that well known, this one follows suit.

Story-
Garfield goes to a castle in England, so he can eat lasagna with the King, sounds like a party right? Except, oh no the gate is closed guess you have to find another way in, how fun, and I might add original. *Sarcasm*

Gameplay-
First off, you control Garfield on a 2D track in a 3D world, although in some levels it can be a little more immersing. Unlike other handheld Garfield games, it's not a sidescroller in some levels. You can go other directions in some levels. Its not like a massive bonus, but it makes it more fun. Garfield goes through 22 levels in four settings: the City, the Forest, the Sewer/Dungeon, and the Castle. This game is a platformer, and it has a rather annoying amount of them, especially the kind that are nearly impossible to jump to before you die about 10 times before finally jumping over them. If you want a break the platforming, there is levels that involve you looking at things through binoculars. Yes. Look at things. Then the level is over. The game has some glitches and bugs that can sometimes tick you off, but I haven't experienced any that really destroy the game. The are a few collectibles that help replayability but they get kind of repetitive. Sometimes, you can interact with the environment by using the microphone, I don't think that ever even is absolutely necessary though.

Graphics/Sound-
Graphics, like the rest of the game, are just OK. DS games have looked better, but these aren't horrible either. There usually aren't and frame rate slowdowns which is good. Some of the textures look pretty bad though, most are nice and smooth, but some just made me want to tear my eyes out. The some of Garfield's models are pretty blocky, and are ugly. Most of the other models look fine, nice and smooth.

Replayability/Playtime-
Maybe 3-4 hours, a really short game. Add maybe 2 hours to get all the collectible food. There are 22 levels and they last 5-7 minutes each, easily. The binocular levels take about 10 seconds (there is about four of them) if you have a good idea of where to look, it's usually pretty obvious if you don't. There is also the timed mode, which you try to do the level as fast as possible.

Final Verdict-
Please don't buy this game, rent it if you *must* have it and are a hardcore Garfield fan.

Final Rating-
5/10
