"At last! A sequel to the SNES classic!"

Yoshi's Island was probably the best 2D platforming game of it's time, and it's probably the best one ever. But did the sequel live up to expectations? I think so!

Gameplay: 9
Well, if you've played the original, you'll know that Yoshi's Island is notorious for having new stuff every level. Well, the sequel does its best to keep that tradition. Also, the ability to switch babies can be fun. A lot of times, especially in the early levels, they'll hold your hand with that. But by World 3, its gonna be VERY hard. Your gonna want to throw your DS against the wall. The controls are decent, and the levels are large. The bosses are very fun and creative.

Story: 8
Who says 2D platforming games have no storyline? The main story is, Kamek is kidnapping babies across the world! Luckily, Baby Mario, Baby Peach, and Baby DK's captors cot attacked by the stork. Luckier STILL when they fell, they happened to fall on Yoshi's back. This game has a few cut-scenes after bosses, usually introducing new characters. A few of them, are totally pointless, but what are ya gonna do?

Graphics: 9
The graphics were pretty much the same a SNES, but with an updated look. But, that isn't bad at all. The background is pleasing to the eye, and colorful.

Music: 7
Yikes....... This is the games only flaw. In the original, the music was bright and cheery, and this game sets that mood too, but with a more tropical flavor. I think its pretty good though, except for the castle music. That is what brought this score down. The music just isn't as memorable as the original's.

Replayability: 8
This game, is just fun. You can replay it quite a few times before you start getting bored with it. Also, there's the challenge of getting 100%, and there is the Time Trial mode to keep you busy for a long time. Unfortunately, this game has no multiplayer, but the great 1 player mode makes up for that.

Overall: 9
This is a great game to get if you like classic platforming games, just want a good challenge, or just want a good DS game, then get it.
