New Zealand Story Revolution
Review by Prottain
"Arrow shooting, sneaker wearing, chick"
So yeah, basically what the tagline says. This is a platform game that features a chick that shoots arrows and wears sneakers.
Story: (1/10) Not much story involved at all. You save your fellow chick friends that were captured in cages. One per level.
Gameplay: (8/10) Platform game which means 2d side scrolling adventure, in which you control a sneaker wearing chick that destroys enemies with arrows. You can aim the arrows and also charge the arrow so it can break through certain obstacles. In addition, the chick can double jump and flutter so that the fall will become slower. The game features power ups that are dropped by the enemy. Such examples are power ups that make your arrows put the enemy on fire, freeze them into blocks, and shoot faster. The game also allows you to steal enemy vehicles (such as balloons and UFOs) so that you can fly up to certain places in the stage. The game tries to make use of the touch screen by putting random mini games into it. Such examples include the spinning of the handle on doors to open them, looking at the differences between the top and the bottom screen and clicking on the difference with your stylus to unlock a secret door. A problem with this game however is that it does not display the time you have left in order to save your chick friend. So you can be playing and then all of the sudden you hear a warning tone and then you have to rush otherwise die. Bonuses can also be collected by collecting letters hidden in the map.
Multiplayer:There is a multiplayer mode but I am not sure of what you can do with it because I do not know anybody that has the game.
Graphics: (9/10) The graphics are pretty charming and colorful. The top screen displays the game while the bottom displays a map. It reminds me of the Kirby series except the graphics are a bit smaller.
Sound/Music: (5/10) Kind of repetitive. My friend who heard me playing this game said he liked the music but personally I do not find it very attractive.
Worth the money?: Probably not. Personally, I would like a game that has some form of story and Kirby games offer more features and more of a story than this game. Perhaps you should consider this game if you like platform games or you liked the previous one (also known as Kiwi Kraze in America for the NES) and you are sick of Kirby and Mario styled platform games. Otherwise, I would not suggest buying it.
Overall: 6/10
