Jump Superstars

Review by NaruSwiggles

"Jump to the Superstars with your DS!"

The manga you read, somehow the anime you watch, comes to life with the manga-builder smash fighter featuring countless Koma puzzle pieces that can create a whole world of power to you. Create a small deck, with a manga comic page layout, and customize to make the ultimate deck. Then, battle it out with characters you see from the weekly Shonen Jump, Naruto, One Piece, Dragon Ball Z, and Bleach to name an inch of this magnificent game.

STORY
The story mode is basically collecting these pieces, to improve your deck. The four worlds are not implemented, but the levels usually have either a tutor, comic feature level, or a simple level with a not so complex objective. Once you beat the game (very long time, about 3-5 months), you definitely have lots more Koma characters to collect, and it took me about an hour to get 1 I needed

GAMEPLAY
Game goes (if I am allowed to use names) like Smash Brothers and Yu-Gi-Oh, with more Smash. The whole Smash Brothers is the top screen, where you have strong and weak attacks, direction controlled for multiple attack combos, and a jump. Last is the Special Move, those accustomed to Anime Games are sure to remember this. It is real time, not cutscene, and you gain special power filled in the top bar to get these. Another part of the game is utilization of the touch screen to activate the parts of your deck. The number of boxes/Komas are different, and cause lots of shaoe shifting. You have Battle Komas, Help Komas, and Support, and the balance you make really is fun. Also, you have tapping to switch characters, and tons of extra moves!

MULTIPLAYER
Multiplayer in this game was superb, but sadly for Japan only. The majority of the players are there, so don't plan on using this mode in big places. You have your selection of a deck, and your opponent, and you can even play with bots (up to 3) for some team battle. The game goes the same from that, just life, time, or survival. The other mode is the trading decks, where you can give a copy to your friend to help with the game.

LAST NOTES
This game is a ton of fun, and you will need the internet for guides. Best for Yugioh players and Smash and Manga lovers!
