Jump Ultimate Stars
Review by RayKnight
"Graduate from a Super Star to an Ultimate Star"
For all Jump! Super Stars players, you might want to try your hands on the latest Jump! Ultimate Stars. JUS ("Jump! Ultimate Stars" in short) has now more characters, more options and new characters. For gamers who are new to the Jump! series, Jump! Ultimate Stars is a game whereby characters from different anime and manga under the Jump series will get together and duke it out. This is a platform fighting game where multiple characters from Shonen Jump will duke it out.
In this new expansion, features such as J-Quiz, Wifi capabilities and new systems to get new komas. Komas are pieces of manga you place on your grid to form your team. They look like a comic strip when you are done placing them. You can switch your characters or ask for aids from your Support koma.
Characters: 9 out of 10
There certainly was an amazing lot of battle characters that you can use as compared to its predecessor. However, I'm quite disappointed that some of the potential characters such as Gaara from Naruto series or Rabi from the D.Gray-man series are only Support characters and cannot be used for fighting purposes.
Gameplay: 10 out of 10
Nothing much has changed, however with new characters and new combination of teams, the game is made even more interesting. The battle system stays the same, new stages are implemented. New moves are even implemented, such as hanging on to the ledge as you are falling off or
Features: 10 out of 10
Wifi has been the best feature ever implemented in JUS. Besides being able to battle opponents, you can connect to players at the other end of the world. This feature has been requested by fans and it is finally implemented. Other features would be new options such as the ability to purchase new Komas instead of getting empty Koma grid that you used to have back in Jump! Superstars.
Audio: 9 out of 10
Most of the sound effect stays the same, the opening video sounds a little fuzzy in the background though. The music are pleasant and gives you the adrenaline to move on with the battle rather than staying stagnant.
Variety: 10 out of 10
Variations in a game is important because then gameplay would be constantly changing and things will get more exciting rather than having the same thing going on and on again. The various ways to create your own team is the core of the game. This is given 10 out of 10 because everyone will have their own individual teams rather than a standard team which causes gameplay to be in a monotonous fashion.
Final Verdict: 9 out of 10
My only complain would be the mild disappoint of the characters I was hoping would be usable for battle. But all in all, with the Wifi feature implemented and the new amount of characters, this game is made a winner in my eyes. Grab a copy as soon as you can and start duking out all the anime goodness!
