Kirby Squeak Squad

Review by GenericMan121

"(>'_')> Alternative Title: Kirby's Strawberry Shortcake Adventure! <('_'<)"

Kirby Squeak Squad is Kirby's second appearance on the DS and this time he goes back to his roots in a more classical game. Strawberry Shortcake is his prize!

*--GRAPHICS--* 7/10
Despite the good sprites, Kirby: SS really hasn't gone up a step from what he was in "The Amazing Mirror". His sprites are actually the same, so not much of an advance.

*--CONTROLS--* 10/10
It handles like that dream car you've been wanting all your life. I don't see any problems with controls. The touch screen "belly" is fantastic and extremely easy to use. Kirby himself handles fantastically with all power being easy to use.

*--GAME PLAY--* 9/10
Great GP. Kirby will jump on platforms, go swimming, eat creatures and more, but this time he also collects chests. These chests give you prizes at the end of the level and are necessary for 100 percent. It gives it that extra replay value. These chests do many things so make sure you get them all to have the full Squeak Squad experience.

*--MUSIC--* 8/10
Classic Kirby music. Songs never get repetitive and are always good for my favourite, the hum-along. Have the music on full blast when playing this and you won't be disappointed.

*--UNLOCKABLES--* 8/10
Kirby has 120 chests to get, all with different things like colours changes, "belly" templates, artwork and sound test. With this you even get ability scrolls. These scrolls give your powers a band new move. For example; Sword scroll allows you t combine fire power and sword power to created fire sword power, which can burn bushes and is still your favourite sword power.

*--REPLAY VALUE AND LONGEVITY--* 7/10
The longevity brings this game down A LOT. The game's over before it begins, which is a shame because it's game play and controls make it a real gem.

The replay value is good without being spectacular. The 120 chests may sound like a lot, but it's not. It shouldn't take you too long too 100% this game.

*--INNOVATION--*9/10
The game's "belly" function is a great innovation and so are it's power scrolls. Squeak Squad also brings along some new powers these are, Bubble, Animal, Metal *spoilers*Ghost which you obtain by grabbing all the chests with the Ghost medal pieces in it*end spoilers*. It also sees the return of old favourites (power wise, not Knuckle Joe), Ninja and High Jump and the improvement of Magic power.

*--RENT OR BUY--*
This depends on if you're a Kirby fan or not. If so, BUY IT! BUY IT NOW! If not, it's a toss of the coin job.
