Transformers: Autobots
Review by gamelord4616
"OMG... A game that was a T.V show AND a movie that ISN'T A HORRIBLE SPINOFF!"
Opening: I have to say this game is very addicting. I find that the storyline doesn't completely match the movie, but that is fine since it is like the Transformer side of the movie. They are no Humans in this game. The Decepticons version can be harder or easier than this version, depending on your perspective of it. In the Decepticons version you get experience for smashing everything, including cars, police and trees. In the Autobots version you only get experience for killing Decepticon drone, but there are more Decepticon drones in Autobots version. Most of the Autobots are Cars/Trucks where as the Decepticons have a car a tank a chopper and 2 jets.
Storyline: 8/10
In the beginning you start out as a new Autobot, you get to name him, but he is a newbie. Ironhide will then show you the controls. This game is somewhat like the movie but, it only shows the transformers parts, so if you have seen the movie it and have the Decepticon version you see everything that went on!
Game-play: 10/10
The game-play is great for this game, you move around with your control pad, and the L and R buttons control your camera angle. Their are different controls for different modes. You can shoot, jump, pick items up and throw them. The bottom touch screen is used to Transform and scan vehicles. Scanning is a very important aspect of the game. You can scan cars, trucks, and helicopters. The only way to get a jet in both versions is to use an AR cheat code or you may go to Target and download it. The Autobots version is called Skydive and the Decepticons jet is called G1 Starscream. Now going back to scanning, it is used to get vehicles that you may change into. You may also change the colors of your vehicles.
Sound/Music: 7 /10
The games had voice acting, like Final Fantasy X and Metal Gear Solid but, it wasn't great, the in-game voices were completely different than the movie ones. The music was not very unique and boring, but it wasn't annoying on any way and I completely for got about it.
Graphics: 9/10
I found the graphics pretty good, even though it's a little blurry and foggy at times. The robots are awsome looking and transforming looks pretty cool too.
WiFi: 8/10
The Transformers game at least takes advantage of the Nintendo DS capabilities. They are called AllSpark wars between Decepticons and Autobots, but you don't actually fight. Instead there are missions you must perform for your side and at the end of the day you get a bunch of Wifi tokens used to buy new vehicles and cheats.
Replay: 6/10
The game doesn't actually have a replay value since the story is the same thing...
Rent or Buy?
You definitely want to buy this unique title, especially if you want to get all the vehicles and complete the story!
