Yu-Gi-Oh! Nightmare Troubadour
Review by Crazymaori
"Duel your heart out!"
Nightmare Troubadour - One of the best Yu-Gi-Oh! games ever playable for the Nintendo DS. It has everything you need, plus the extra side-quests to complete.
Gameplay
The gameplay in this game is quite simple. It follows the second Yu-Gi-Oh! television series, in which you must play through. It follows the stories' main good characters, like Yugi, Yami Yugi, Joey, Kaiba etc, and it holds the evil, more harder-to-beat guys like Noah, Gozaburu, Yami Marik etc. They all are duelable as many times as you like, and you can gain some quite good in-game cards from merely dueling them.
Storyline
Indirectly, you take over the position of Yugi Moto in the TV series, you become the good guy who defeats all evil. The story you play is the "Yu-Gi-Oh! - Second Series" which aired around countries between 2003-2004. You see all the characters introduced in that time along your adventures, collect cards that were very popular in that time, and duel till your heart's content. A definate 10/10 in Storyline.
AI
The Ai in this game is quite hard to play against, but the thing that lets it down is the mistakes it makes while dueling. It can forsee your moves, but does nothing to act upon it. It makes some of the weirdest mistakes possible, but it makes your time to complete the game that much shorter.
Difficulty
This game is hardly difficult (no pun intended). Some of the better characters in the series can be hard (Yami Yugi, Seto Kaiba, Yami Marik/Marik) but they are beatable. The only thing that is hard about the game is getting certain events to trigger. That, In My Opinion, is the hardest thing to do. Sometimes, everything could happen within half an hour, other times it could be months, so just be patient.
Positives and Negatives?
Okay then:
Positives
-Increased difficulty levels throughout the different duelists.
-Ability to get all three Egyptian God Cards (Only one at a time, but you can have all three)
-Ability to face one-time characters over and over again
-Daytime/Nightime feature
-Kaiba Corp Points (KCP) which you can gain through duels, tournaments and puzzles to buy card packs which are unlocked at certain levels.
Negatives
-Mistakes made by the AI
-Event timing. Can be quite annoying to get them to trigger
-No Character icon...
Overall, this game gets an 8.10. It could get higher if it were a little easier to trigger events, but that just means more time to duel!
