MySims
Review by Go1die
"MySims, YourSims, OurSims - whoever they are, you'll love 'em all!"
MySims for the Nintendo DS is a cute and entertaining game for someone who loves to have fun and doesn't want a super challenging game.
Story - 7/10
It could've been better, but it'll do. You have moved into a resort town that hasn't been doing well lately, causing stores and attractions to close down because tourists aren't visiting. Your the new guy in town, and it's your job to fix this place up! From planting flowers around town to customizing the forest with trees and statues, you must do everything you can to fix up this rundown town.
Graphics - 9/10
The people are VERY cute and the world is very attractive. Text is not hard to read and the furniture isn't bad at all. Buildings look real as well as the NPCs and clothes. Aside from some choppy animations and kinda squished down people, the graphics are fine.
Sound - 8/10
Like any other average games music. It does, however, sometimes get aggravating, but only a few of them. There are several different pieces of music, so it's not like S2P: Pets for DS, with the same song playing over and over and over and...
Gameplay - 9/10
MySims, overall, is VERY fun. There are tons of customization options to choose from, from eyes to hair to clothes to wallpaper and carpet to games. You can even choose the name of a local store as well as your towns name, using more than 4 characters. You'll also eventually get to create your own clothing patterns, which is much more complex and improved than AC:WW - you will get to choose the front, back, sleeves, and even what's on your hand using the clothes designer! You can also pick more colors and there's not a set you must choose from. Oh, and the Mini games! The minigames in this game are awesome, and they aren't dumb games you get the top score in in 5 seconds, some of these (like Racquetball) actually require a bit of effort to get a Gold Medal! Your town star rating actually takes a while to fill up (I've been playing for half a week now and still on 3 stars) and there's always more furniture and clothing for you when you get bored with your old ones. The games are also pretty fun. Paragliding is pretty cool, racquetball is rather awesome, and lei making is okay. There are 10 mini games total, not including Casino Minigames, so you'll be busy for a while! Although talking with tourists gets boring after a while, that doesn't ruin the game, as talking to tourists is optional (except for some NPCs). There's a bunch of places to see and unlock, and you will always be running around doing something in MySims!
Learning Curve - 10/10
You'll get used to the controls in minutes. Very easy controls.
Menus Orderliness - 8/10
Yes, my own section. This is for how clean and easy the menus are, if you couldn't tell already. Anyway, the menus are fine, but there is too much space and too little items. You get 50 inventory spaces, plus the 70 in your storage chest, and you'll probably be using only the first two pages of your inventory unless your doing some major fishing or lei making or cake buying. There is a very easy access to your inventory, map, highscores, relationships, and more, as well as switching between the time of day and a map of your current area with the press of a button. The only bad thing is the length of time it is to get to do something, as for almost everything you do you must choose a check mark or an X, and this takes a while and gets quite annoying.
Glitches/Flaw Count - 5/10
There are a few minor glitches in this game. You can sometimes get stuck between stuff, sometimes choosing to do something will slide back to saying 'No' instead of 'Yes' (ex. I want to go fishing, I choose 'Yes', but it goes back to 'No'). The same goes with talking to tourists - you choose the Cry option but end up choosing Laugh instead. There is also a few problems with running, you can't directly turn around and run; you must turn around in a semi-circle or suffer turning around and gradually getting to your running speed. There's also a loading screen which takes a few minutes to load the first time you start the game, but it's not so bad.
Replayability - 9/10
There is always something to do in MySims, from redecorating your whole house from changing an outfit or hairstyle... you name it!
Overall Score - 8/10 (Not Average)
This game is really good for people with a nice sense of humor and patience, but more serious people might not describe this game as enjoyable. There's a lot to do and see, but it could have been better with more furniture and clothing and a tiny bit more of customization options. Give it a try before regretting your buy (hey, that rhymes!), and you might be in for a surprise!
Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed my review!
