Asphalt: Urban GT 2

Review by Mario106

"Pretty good game! Worth checking out!"

Well I got this game for a birthday gift and I also got it with the New Super Mario Bros. for the DS. Now I didn't ask for this game nor did I knew it existed. I really didn't even plan on playing the game. So first I decided to pop in the Mario game and after a little while I got stuck. I then decided to try what I thought was a crappy game. I waited for it to load and after it was done I was surprised. The game was actually pretty good, Besides the horrible music and a few unrealistic things like taking out cars it was not half bad. Now if I would of looked at the back of this case I would of thought that the game and the graphics sucked but I was wrong. I posted this to prove how much of a skeptic I was of this game.

Graphics: 8/10

Now I must and you must realize it is not PSP graphics but I thought they were good for the DS. Now the reason I thought it was good for the DS was because I would of never of bought this game knowing it was trying to have 3D graphics I wanted to stick with my 2D side scrolling graphics only like Mario! Although still skeptic when I was playing it was smooth but a little pixelish and that is why I gave it an 8/10.

Sound: 0/10

The reason I give this a 0 out of 10 is because I personally don't like the songs, in fact I turn the sound down and usually just watch TV like I do with most of my DS games. I had read a review that said the sound was bad and after playing the game I thought I would see if he was correct,
because I wanted to prove him wrong. Well I guess that didn't work out to well. So for this I would suggest turning sound down for this game, that is why I give the sound 0/10.

Controls: 6/10

Scrolling though the menus for the first time is very difficult I picked it up and didn't know where I was half the time in the menus, then sub menus then sub sub menus then sub sub sub menus. Ok well maybe I exaggerated a little bit on the menu thing but you get my point about the menus. The only good thing is I found after playing a little while you can get use to them quite easily. I would of give this a 5/10 but the controls do get easy to pick up so I give it a 6/10.

Game Play: 7.5/8

I think you could consider this game play. In the story mode or evolution or whatever the name is. Anyway there's only about 4 different types of races and the get pretty boring after a while, especially when you have to do 3 laps instead of to. Although I do like how you kind of advance in racing; for example street races, city races, amateur and so on and so forth, I hope you can understand what I'm talking about. Anyway if you do get bored with the career mode you can do a few different modes which are ok. I added what I'm about to say about cars after I was past rating game play so this might seem a wee bit about of place. This game allows you to buy many different car types with what I would say reasonable prices for the amounts of money that you win. So do to all these reasons I will give game play a 7.5 – 8. This one is pretty hard to decide for me and that is why it is in between numbers.

Story: N/A

Now I could be a skeptic and put zero but I'm not going to be for this one. This is a racing game and it doesn't deal with people it deals with racing so it doesn't need to have a story line. Some people may say the career is a story line but when I think of story line I think of something like Zelda so I'm not going to rate this.

Worth: 7/10

I would say this game is worth buying I'm not quite sure on the price but I know it can be easily found. The game lasts for quite and I while and still haven't finished it, but it does get a little bit born so I will go with 7/10 for how much this game is worth buying.
Total Score: 7/10

I'm going to go with 7/10 for this game. Now although this might not make sense if you were to average the scores together it would not be 7/10. If you did it average it out it would come to about 5 if I'm correct. I'm going by GameFAQ's description. Which would be for those who don't know is. Good – A few problems, but worth the time to play. So with that this review is done and I wish you a farewell and good luck gaming.
