Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings

Review by Lunethrocks

"A new style of Final Fantasy!"

Before reading the rest of this I would like to inform you if accepted this is my first review and for you old time Final Fantasy fans I have not played that many of them. Ok, let us continue, I will divide this review into four sections: graphics, game play, plot, and pros and cons. So let us continue...
Graphics-8/10

The graphics in this game are fine for a DS game but in a personal opinion FF3s graphics were much better. The only reason this deserves an 8/10 is for the few cut scenes where you see great graphics for a hand held game. When you walk around on the world map you can see the pixels just about everywhere. The characters are blocky but in battles the graphics look like heaven in comparison. Though in scenes that close in on the characters it still looks like they are made out of squares. Anyways lets move on to the aspects of the game play...
Game play-10/10

I can honestly say I loved the game play of this Final Fantasy. It is a blend of real time strategy and role playing. You control your characters with the touch screen and the best part, no turns. That is what makes this game challenging at some parts. I struggled a lot less on FF3 then I did on this game since you can base your strategies of turns normally. Well in this one you do not have that option. If you did'nt do anything you would get rushed by enemy espers. ( monster summons ) The most fun battles can last up to 30 to 45 minutes of non stop magic, summoning, and close combat. You have four types of people/espers: Melee, Magic, Flying, and Ranged. These all have advantages and disadvantages in battle its up to you to use them to your advantage or disadvantage. Anyways, on to the plot.
Plot-10/10

I loved this plot in this game compared to others, For the Final Fantasys I've played you are jumped into the plot. "you are the chosen one, you must save the world yadayadayada" Yet in this one you follow your self and you walk in on the plot after learning how to play. You have to try and save the Aegyle( pardon spelling... Winged species ) Later on you find out you have to defeat their "god" for stealing their anima ( emotions is what I got out of that word ). So that sums up the plot I don't want to give away all that much, I enjoyed finding stuff out for myself and you should to.

Pros-
The game is a perfect blend of RTS and RPG.
You can summon during battles to increase your power.
No turns. Could be a Con depends on what kind of games you like.
Decent plot for Final Fantasy games ( I've heard its better then the first part of FFXII.

Cons-
Graphics are not all that great.
No turns... As mentioned Con or Pro depends on what kind of games you like.

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head, some things I'm neutral towards you know?
I hope this influences purchasing the game. It may be pricey but its worth it.
