Advance Wars: Days of Ruin

Review by kastrov

"ADVANCE WARS for grown ups!"

By far, Advance wars has been one of Nintendo´s best strategy games. They are fun, easy to play, makes you think and have a great replay value, and this game, wont dissapoint you! In my personal opinion, this game its a must have, if you buy a nintendo DS just for this game, you will never regret it

First of all, if you are familiar with the series, and you were expecting to find Andy, Max and company having Victory root beers ........FORGET IT! this is Advance Wars for Grown ups! No more kids stuff, Crude and realistic.

The story so far its amazing, dont expect the "War is so nice" game(spoiler?), the story its a post-apocalyptic story, and sadly, the closest way it could be on real life, a world with not much hope under dust, where most people just look out for theirselves, betraying, robbing and so on. It was a HUGE change but worthy.

The gameplay didnt change that much, but there are a couple of new units that gives you more matterial for strategy planning, the CO powers are usefull, but not enough to turn the tide to your side, you need more BRAINS to win a battle. It´s Amazing how difficult is trying to save the most of your units every chapter.

The Graphics are good in the mood of the game! the battle graphics are a ltlle bit dusty and they looked better in other games of the series, but in general,Great graphics, the Intros of each mission are Waaay to good! and the Dialogues are very much appropriate.

The music in other games of the series were annoying after a while, but in this game, the music fits perfect with the story. Actually Im planning to get the soundtrack if there is any.

I havent tried Wi-Fi battles but I will try it soon.

There is no War Room, but in the story gameplay, you can repeat the chapters to try an S rank and also there are some special missions that you can do that are not connected with the story mainline and also there a good quantity of trial maps you can have fun with.

Try it and you will love it! Its worth to buy and its not very expensive, you will have a great time.

(still it would de nice to have a dual strike sequel....and why not, both series!)

Ranks:
GAMEPLAY : 10
MUSIC: 9
GRAPHICS: 9
REPLAY VALUE:10
STORY: 10
