"The Best Advance Wars Game Ever!"

Another year, another crappy Advance Wars game. That's what I used to say. After begging my mom to not get me this Advance Wars for my birthday, she goes ahead and buys it anyway so I thought I would give it a shot. What I saw ws the most realistic and dramatic Advance Wars game to date. In Europe it is Dark Conflict, in the US it is Days Of Ruin. Im in europe, so I got Dark Conflict, which I think is the better of the titles.

Story - 10/10
No more cartoony 'Let's make war!' scenarios, now it is a full-blown tragedy of planet hit by a meteor strike with 90% of humanity gone. It also helps that none of the old and boring characters have made comebacks, or the old nations. Instead, we have a young survivor who gets rescued from bandits by the independent legion, and then travels on to find more survivors. The story definetely deserves a 10/10.

Graphics - 10/10
Brilliant. Realistic. Not cartoony. Need I say more? Seriously, the graphics are now WAY beyond the old advance wars games. It now totally kicks ass, in more ways than one! The units look more mature, the people look SO much better, and even the terrain has been modified to look better!


Gameplay - 8/10
I only really have one major problem with the gameplay. None of the advanced weapons (Megatank, Neotank etc.) are available during story mode. Neotanks aren't available at all! It's understandable due to the storyline, but I would have preferred to have the more advanced tech. weapons to at least have been available in free battle.

Sound - 9.5/10
The sound, relly is like all the advance wars games. Yes it is repetitive but most have little catchy backing beats which will drive you crazy for hours on end meaning it finally has some effect on the player.

Online Play - Unknown
I haven't really been on online play much yet, but from what I have heard it is a brilliant experience due to the battles can take up to almost one hour which might be scary, but is great fun!

Overall score 10/10
It may have been changed dramatically, but it is a huge step in the right direction.
