Frogger Helmet Chaos

Review by MoeBear

"The little Frog the couldn't"

INTRO
Let me start out by saying I have played other frogger games in the past, and hated them all. The only reason I tried this one was, cause someone passed it along to me to borrow. Right off the back I knew this was not going to be good. Then later the borrowing turned into you can keep it; I was like no thanks you can take your junk back. When I saw no reviews for this game on the DS, I knew it was my duty to write one so people would have some type of idea what they are getting themselves into. I know lots of gamers have played this game, but no one wanted to write one. Guess they didn't want to bash a classic game from the past.

GAME PLAY
I don't know why companies keep making frogger games, cause I doubt very much people are buying them and supporting this frog. Just like I have said in the past, this frog doesn't cut it when it comes to action platform games. They should put him in something else. This game can be described as an action platform, with a little bit of maze puzzling thrown in. I really tried to like this game, and made it maybe half way threw it, and then just gave up. This game is meant for people with lighting fast reflexes. I mean you need to hop, turn right, jump, turn left, jump, hop, etc. Very fast on sinking lily pads. You miss one hop or step, and then you start the whole mess all over again. Gee wiz this is nuts, you need fingers like lighting reflexes. The problem with frogs is, they hop when the turn, or walk. You need to use the triggers to rotate right or left, and this gets very confusing, mostly when you want to turn in place. So in short instead of fun and entertaining, it becomes annoying and frustrating.

APPEARANCE
Well I must say this isn't too bad, the graphics are good, and the character details are very nicely done too. The different board background look nice. But you are always in some pond jumping around. No matter if it's a swamp, or on the farm, or somewhere else, there is always some type of lake or pond. I guess that's where frogs belong, but it looks good. The sound isn't too bad its ok to play along too.

OVERALL
It is very hard for me to give a game a mark over five, if I didn't care enough to finish it. So for what I gave it I thought it was reasonable. It is better then previous frogger games, but still doesn't quite fit the bill for me. If you like this type of game style, hey go for it, cause I sure don't.
