Guitar Hero: On Tour
Review by Longtraveler76
"Finger Cramping good time"
This version of Guitar Hero was a very inventive idea and brought new ideas to the mobile guitar hero without the Guitar Hero Controller. There was minor issues that I had with it but overall it was a great experience and something new.
The new buttons lock into the Gameboy Advance slot for both the new slim DS and the original DS with 2 different inserts. It is held sideways like newer titles of games.
STORY
Its pretty simple, your band plays songs at many different locations and rises in fame. More like the first and second game. Play 4 songs then an encore song then onto the next location. The locations range from the subway, the rooftop, parade, greek arena, then to the battleship.
GAMEPLAY
Different but somewhat simular. Instead of the Guitar shaped controller you play with the touch screen and a pick shaped stylus to use with the touch screen. There are 4 buttons instead of 5 and they are close together so it'll be harder for players with bigger hands. Instead of the strum button, you will use the pick stylus on the touch screen as if you were strumming the strings with your pick on a real guitar. Playing the game is the same though, when the notes pass by hit the notes by strumming at the correct time.
SOUND
The music is great in my opinion, many are from Guitar Hero 3 but some are new to the series such as Maroon 5, Incubus, Smash Mouth, and Ok Go. Also old favorites like Kiss and Ozzy Osbourne.
VISUALS
The game looks good for the DS and where it seems to have alot of shadows but overall all the characters move well but remember that this is the Nintendo DS, not the Sony PSP. Graphics are blotted and seem dull.
Overall this version is a breath of fresh air and tries something different with is new button scheme and overall design, however I believe they could have designed it for all users, not just children or people with smaller hands. The WiFi multiplayer is also a fun add on with Co-op, Face Off, and the new Battle mode from Guitar Hero 3. I'd say this is a great rental for a up-coming trip but if your a die hard fan of the series and own a DS then maybe this will be worth the money.
