Lego Batman
Review by EricDent1
"LEGO Batman is pretty fun."
After playing most of the LEGO games for the DS, I can say that LEGO Batman is very similar to the rest. Which is a good thing, and a bad thing. The good thing is that after you play those other games it is nice to not have to learn to many new things to play this game. The bad thing is that it is so similar that you may get a sense that you have played some of the levels when playing this game.
It still is a very fun game to play. Especially if you game on the go. There are 15 levels per side. You can play as both the Good guys, and the Bad guys. So this makes it 30 levels of LEGO action.
The levels are well designed. There are lots of objects and items to locate, and quite a few puzzles that need both characters to solve. This game will take quite a bit of time to play through to the end. Which means you are getting a lot of play value for your money. There are tons of characters to play as, and each one has different abilities and skills. You have to unlock quite a few of them, which gives you another incentive to play the game more often.
Over all the graphics are OK for the DS version, though I do notice a bit of choppiness in a couple of sections of the game. The music is really good (it a bit repetitive at times), and the cut-scenes are very well thought out (comic book panels are a good choice).
Since this is a DS game there are several Touch-screen controls, and several mini-games to play as well. Also you can create your own characters. The more characters you have unlocked, the more parts you have to create them.
The main difference between this version of the game and the console versions. Is that instead of making you complete an entire story arc in order to play on the villain side, you just have to beat one level of the story mode.
Over all this game is fun to play. It combines the aspects of LEGO Indiana Jones (more focus on melee combat) and LEGO Star Wars (more levels to play in) to create a very rewarding experience.
If you enjoyed playing any of the other LEGO games that came out recently for DS (LEGO Star Wars The Complete Saga & LEGO Indiana Jones The Original Adventures), then you will like LEGO Batman The Video Game.
