"It May Not Leave Your DS."

In Disgaea DS you play as Prince Laharl, who has just woken up from a 2 year "Nap". You then find out that the previous Overlord (Laharl's father) has died, making Laharl the heir to the throne. You then go on a quest to reclaim the throne.

Story 8/10

The story is very light hearted and at some points funny. It can be made even funnier if you turn on prinny commentary. The story can get a bit tiring on second or third playthroughs. Luckily you can skip the story sequences making for a less repetitive playthroughs

Audio 7/10

Compared to the PS2 version this game does not deliver. Most of the tunes have been compacted and reduced in memory which has made there quality very typical for a DS game. The tunes are catchy even if they do not have words.

Graphics 8.5/10

The graphics in this game are quite impressive for a DS game. They are sprite based so some things look kind of awkward but the sprites look good and are not an eyesore which is very nice. Some things are pixelated, but after a while you won't even notice. Compared to the PS2 it is a step down, but not a big one which was quite nice and make the overall game experience alot nicer than if the sprites were ridiculously pixelated.

Gameplay 10/10

This is where this game shines. The gameplay could be described as a very beefed up Final Fantasy Tactics. There is so much to do you could easily push 100+ hours. For example, you can level any character up to lvl. 9999 and that is not a typo. There are secret bosses/characters, extra levels, and an extra mode. It could keep you occupied for quite a while or maybe forever.

Replayability 10/10

To reach some of the features you will have to pass through the main and even the extra game at least a couple times. It can get old if you don't really have any sense of what you're doing but reading the board and some common sense can make a huge difference.

Final Verdict 9/10

I really enjoyed this game and have logged over 100 hours on it. I would recommend it to anyone who played and enjoyed Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy Tactics, or similar games. This game should come with a warning stating it may never leave your DS.
