Review by thegamemaster8
"Seriously, who designed this game?"
I bought this and the other versions of this game for Gamecube and GBA out of curiosity. Out of all 3 versions, the DS Version was a Gamer's Nightmare. I've never sold or given away any game I've ever had so I'm stuck with it. To anyone else who wants to get this thing from Gamestop or Amazon (it's an older game so it's probably not in stores anymore) for your DS, I'd forget it.
Graphics / 3: Both the Characters and the environments look bad depending on the angle you look at them and the only thing that has any real good looks to it is the 2-D Sprites and the Character Drawings that appear when the Characters are talking to each other.
Gameplay / 2: I played this thing for weeks, first getting stuck on the Plankton Boss, then getting stuck in the Retro Land Stage. I finally beat it after weeks of blood, sweat, tears, & aggravation...okay, maybe not Blood and Sweat, but definitely Tears and Aggravation. Puzzles take forever to figure out since there are no hints like in the Gamecube Version of the Game and at times new players will find themselves spending almost a day trying to figure out where they're supposed to go. The Mini-Games are no better. Their difficulty levels mean nothing in some games and in others they're impossible to complete.
Controls / 2: The controls are no better. The game combines the usage of both the Buttons & Touch Screen. Button Controls are a pain when trying to use Special Abilities since you can only use them by using the Touch Screen. Switching Characters on the Touch Screen isn't any better as at times, the Touch Screen will mistake you trying to Switch Characters for using Special Moves and vice versa.
Plot / 6: The Plot isn't solid, but it seems to be the only thing interesting about the game especially for those who are fans of the Nicktoons in this Game. The Plot is the same in all Console Versions of the game. You take control of Jimmy Neutron, Spongebob Squarepants, Danny Phantom, & Timmy Turner as you try to stop the Evil Syndicate, made up of Proffessor Calmitous, Plankton, Vlad Plasmius, & Mr. Crocker, from using their new Doomsday Device to take over the Nick Universe.
Music / 1: Music is tedious and loops horribly. Menu Music is used for Credit Sequences, and the Stage Music can put you to sleep. Enough said.
All in all, it's gets a 2 out of 10. It would get a 1 had it not been for the Plot. Save your children from this awful game and by them something more useful...like a book...or a Zelda Game...or the Gamecube Version...so long as it's not this version of the Game.
