Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution
Review by Ageus
"An excellent DS game"
I've never played any of Sid Meier's other games, but this one was excellent. I bought this game a year ago, and I'm still playing it.
Gameplay: 10/10
This game has awesome gameplay. You choose from between playing a random map, a scenario, or online. Once you have made your choice you choose from between 16 civilizations, each with their own bonuses and starting technologies. Once you choose a civilizadtion, you go to the map. You start with a single settler, wich builds cities. You build your capitol and then wait until your warrior is complete. Once it builds, you just run around the map, fighting barbarians, discovering other civilizations, and sailing on the ocean in a galley. You continuosly research new technologies and build new buildings. It's a lot of fun to build up a massive army and just sweep through your neighbor's defences.
Story: nonexistent
There really is no set storyline, but if you play as a civilization, you pretty much remake their history. My favorite thing to do is to redo the rise of the roman empire, and make them last into our time.
Graphics: 6/10
The graphics are pretty bad. It basically shows a cartoon character running around the map until you fight someone. Then they get ok, showing the people stabbing or shooting each other. You cant tell what is built in a city until you click on it and select buildings. Then it shows you a picture.
Sound: 6/10
There really isnt much sound in this. I usually play it with no sound. You hear bird sounds in the background, and when you move you hear people walking. The people yell whenever they fight, and the sound effects are appropriate to the unit, having swords clashing when there are swordsmen, guns when there are guns, and cannons when there are tanks.
Replayability: 10/10
The entire game is based on replayability, with 4 different ways to win a game: domination(militiary) victory, economic victory, cultural victory, and scientific victory. The way the units get better as you go through time is also nice. You go from warriors at the beginning(basically cavemen with bronze swords), to having tanks, battleships, and fighter planes. There is tons of technology to research, and a lot of buildings to create. The different modes are also fun, giving a different twist on normal play for each mode. You can fight barbarian hordes, colonize a different planet, play a lightning round, or many other modes.
This is an excellent game which I highly reccomend. Its poor graphics really dont take anything away from gameplay, and the sounds you can just turn off. You can get a lot of hours of gameplay out of this.
Final Reccomendation: 9/10
