GoldenEye: Rogue Agent
Review by manx120
"A pretty good title for the DS."
Graphics: 7/10
Ok, I have to admit, the graphics seem kinda rushed. I love over killing people, and over killing in this game was an impossible. The animations on the people you fight were mediocre at best for the DS. I am not blown away by the graphics but I am not disgusted with them.
Sound: 3/10
As you may know, the sound is horrible, I have heard better soundtracks from a NES. The sounds of gunshots do in fact, sound like gunshots, but that is about all that sounds right in the game. But I am not sound whore, and I could have fun with halo on mute so the sound didn't really bother me, and not enough to make me mute my DS. 5/10
Story: 3/10
The back cover art quotes:
WHY SAVE THE WORLD WHEN YOU CAN RULE IT?
I never ever once in this game get the feeling that I am an evil agent trying to take over the world. And I admit, im not a big fan of James bond. So, all I can tell you about the story is what I know from the game, and so far all I remember is that I am an agent that lost an eye by someone named DR. NO. and, well im still a bit lost.
Gameplay: 7/10
Pretty straight forward with what you have to do in the game Kill people, go to next room, kill people. Ect. But, that is still very very fun. I love it because it is portable. It needs some diversity, It is too strait forward. Their is no random doors with enemy's at all. It is like the game is setup just for you, and it really isn't a secret base or building that you are infiltrating.
Controls: 9/10
Very nice, perfect for what this game has to offer, and it shows very well how much easier head shots are on the DS then they are on Halo2. The Nintendo DS Is very much ready for first person shooters, and this game proves it. The only problem is that it takes beginners a few trys to get the controls down. But if you are used to the metroid demo controls, you will find no problem jumping into this one.
Multyplayer: 8/10
I pretty much bought this game because I knew that in between ddr sessions at the arcade, I could own up on my friends with this game. I just wish I had more then 2 friends with a DS because this game is great fun multiplayer especially because it is portable. This game has the best multiplayer for ds yet. And you only need one cart. With single cart play, you only get one level, but thats ok because thats all me and my friends really need.
Overall/Summary: 7/10
This is the best portable FPS to date, with fun multiplayer, mediocre graphics and gameplay, and horrible sound, this game deserves a 7/10. Maybe if the single player game was a bit more lengthy, few more added details, and alot better sound, this game would get a 8.5/10. If you have any friends with a ds, or if you are in need of a FPS for the DS, i recommend picking this title up, but if you are an average FPS fan, wait till Metroid prime Hunters.
