Review by WaterMario222

"No dice, sorry."

Goldeneye: Rogue Agent is a First-Person Shooter that uses the DS's features well. Sometimes, this gets into the game's excitement. It was released in North America, Europe and Japan in the year 2005 by EA Games.

The story will not strike a cord in those looking for a deep plot. In a way, it doesn't really matter. As most Goldeneye games flow, the story appears to attempt to create a decent one, but usually, the story won't put any excitement into the gameplay. This holds true for the DS port, and mainly has no depth in it. You are a MI6 agent who has been kicked out, because of a "loss of eye". Afterwords, you're working with Goldfinger to defeat Dr. No.

With Goldeneye, you know that each game won't be the same as the previous one. Rogue Agent's gameplay revolves around the usage of one or two guns (depending on which you pick up, try holding a rocket launcher and a sniper rifle at the same time) and picking up ammo, better weapons, and thinking up of devious plans to destroy Dr. No's army. You won't be encountered with too much surprises. The weapons are fairly limited, and you won't have a wide-sized range of them to choose from. The touch screen is used to control your character, for a decoding system, and some special features.

The graphics don't run very smoothly, but then again, not many DS games do either. The environments aren't too bad, but the enemies look like brainwashed fools, instead of dangerous opponents. The guns look great, however, and each has its own little details and looks that stand out.

The sound doesn't fare as well as the graphics. Most of the guns sound the same, and you'll get tired of the repetitive music that plays throughout the game. Expect nothing better than average, and some painful "Ahh!'s" when your enemies die.

I guess it wouldn't be fair to say that Goldeneye: Rogue Agent was a bad game, but it would be an overstatement if I said that it was exceptional. Though it doesn't screw up horribly like some First-Person Shooters do, it doesn't stand out in my mind as an outrageously fun game. Get it if it's on sale for cheap, otherwise, the supposed $30 price is a bit high for a soupcon above average game. I prefer the console version, thanks.
