Pokemon Dash

Review by WaterMario222

"Pikachu uses Agility! Speed Sharply Increases! In a Race?"

Pokemon Dash is a Pokemon racing game that was released to Japan in the year 2004 and in Europe, North America and Austrailia in the year 2005.

Sound: 6/10
-------------

I find that the sound and the background music don't represent a racing game, but rather a Pokemon game. This causes a lack of excitement in the overall gameplay, and makes me wonder if they were trying to create a Pokemon game or a racing game. Plus, all of the random growls and cries from the Pokemon were lame. I found myself laughing at the stupidest things and constantly shaking my head at the mediocre music.

Graphics: 7/10
----------------

There's a lot of Pokemon in this game, and this causes a lot of chaos when racing, and the Pokemon sometimes look like blurs. It isn't as sharp as the actual RPG Pokemon games, but then again, you can't expect 2-D Pokemon graphics to amaze you.

----------------
Gameplay: 7/10
----------------

The gameplay flows like a regular race game with Pokemon instead of karts. You might need to cross lava, lakes, and fly through the air, but at the end, you'll just be getting power-ups and beating the computers easily. There are a couple of modes that you can play in. For example, besides a "Grand Prix" mode, you might be racing against the clock in Time Attack. The point that makes this game more fun than some other racing games is that not all Pokemon can cross a particular path, and therefore, makes this a cross from a strategy game and a racing game with Pokemon. That makes it a little more kid-friendly and enjoyable.

Replay Value-5/10
-------------------

I guess this game's good for beating your own records and times, but that kind of replay value has been overused, and they need something besides trophies and cups that you can earn.

------------
Conclusion
------------

At the end, Pokemon Dash is an attempted racing game that tries to appeal to Pokemon fans, but those more sophisticated on buying games may need to think twice before picking up this Pokemon race. It's a matter of whether you like Pokemon enough to get any game involving the yellow mouse in it.
