Nintendogs: Dachshund and Friends

Review by Keniken

"Wait...didn't I do this yesterday?"

Nintendogs is a sim where you, of course, raise your own puppy. Yes puppy. They never grow. You may keep 3 puppies in your home at a time, and may take them on walks, teach them tricks, take them to competitions, etc.

Graphics: 10

The graphics are spectacular for DS. The dog perfectly interacts with the stylus, doing all kinds of crazy motions. You can even see the slight details on the bottom of your dog's paw. Nothing much else to say here, awesome graphics.

Sound: 9

Great sounds, whether its your own pup's style of barking, or the small yawns when (s)he is tired, or even the panting after a long walk, it's great. Even enough to make you talk cute to your dog, However I am giving it a 9 because I feel the growling and shaking of your dog's fur seemed fake.

Gameplay: 6

This is where the games ends up being not so hot, You start off knocking on the kennel's door...choosing your puppy. You then arrive home to pet your dog to raise it's trust, then you must name it. It then explains how to teach your dog to sit. You are then left on your own. You can get toys for your dog to play with, get them treats, and of course manually feed them. You can also enter in "Bark mode" where you may interact with another player's dog. The 3 main things you do each day are: taking your dog for a walk, usually entering a dog competition (which there are 3 modes of), and training him/her. The 3 competitions are Obedience, where you must tell your dog commands and it must respond, Agility, where your dog must run through an obstacle course, and disc competitions, where you throw a frisbee and your dog must catch it. This part of the game isn't so bad, its pretty fun actually. However, what brought it down to 6 was LACK OF THINGS TO DO! There's not enough, they should've had an optional story mode where you complete missions. It isn't so fun...

Repeatitiveness:

Not going to give it a rating, because it's so horrible. It gets VERY repeatitive. This is one of those games where it's fun for a few days, then get's boring. Walks, competitions, training, so boring and repeatitive. Not that good in this department...
