Pac 'n Roll

Review by dementedlullaby

"Get ready for a that good ol' ball of fun, Pac Man!"

Pac 'n Roll is Namco's first attempt at a Pac Man 3-D adventure game for the DS. They pretty much hit it right on the head! While there might be one or two problems with the game for the most part it's near perfection.

2/10 Story - There's nothing special here, from the irritating voices to the corny-ness there's really nothing of interest to talk about. The focus for this game is game play, which is fine with me. I'm still in the stage of loving Nintendo's new touch screen gimmick so anything that focus' on the TS is fine with me, which means I won't count this score as much ~_^

8/10 Music/Sounds - Pretty decent, the tunes are quite catchy and don't manage to drill into your head. The sounds in this game are pretty interesting, such as trampoline sounds when hitting the jumping pads or smashing boxes.

9/10 Graphics - On par with most PSX games. The environments are fun and the stages done quite well. The different worlds have a lot of variety in between them which keeps the game play from becoming stagnant. For an early DS game it's done quite well. Very bright, colourful and cheerful. The bottom screen is where the game play is. There is a picture of Pac Man that rolls around with the stylus, nothing spectacular but the background changes a bit depending on the world your in. Nice touch.

10/10 Game play - This is where it really shines. The levels are quite creative, they require you to make "slashes" on the touch screen to move Pac Man along. Around the edge of the touch screen is a white border. If you start a slash on the background and end it on the border Pac Man will do a "sonic-esque" sort of speed dash. When you pick up to much speed and need to stop quickly all you have to do is place the stylus on the icon of Pac Man on the TS. If Pac Man eats different chocolates he can get a different suits which allows him to do different things. Also if you eat a big flashing dot you can chase around the Ghosts and eat them old school style. Time Trial is crazy hard and will keep you entertained for ages! There is so much replay within that and the challenge mode.

I DO NOT COMPARE GAMES I REVIEW TO OTHER GAMES. IT SIMPLY IS NOT FAIR!
