Lost in Blue

Review by SSJ Trunks 2

"Who ever thought surviving could be this fun...?!!!"

The third entry in Konami's Survival Kids genre has landed on the Nintendo DS. How does it compare to the original GBC versions. Lets find out.

Story:

There's really not a storyline here. Basically, two kids get stranded on an island after a storm and they must utilize each other's skills in order to escape the island. If you ever read Lord of the Flies, watched Gilligans Island, and Survivor, this game sort fits right along with them.

7/10

Gameplay:

This game has very interesting gameplay. You're basically trying to survive on a uncharted island. There's hunting, fishing, building, cooking starting a fire, etc....The DS's features are used in very creative ways here. One way is you have to blow into the mic. to get the fire started. It's a very innovative and unique approach to playing the game.

10/10

Sound and Graphics:

The graphics are fine to me. They don't push the DS all the way but then again the graphics aren't simple. Sometimes the graphics can look very realistic. The graphics has a sort of "island" field to them since this game is about survival after all.

The sound is pretty good. The guy and girl groan whenever they're in need of something., The island has birds chirping, water flowing, crickets chirping. The sounds does a good job bringing out the island feel of the game.

9/10

Longevity:

This game last a long time or a short time depending on how you play it. There's several endings and even a secret mode. You can play as the boy and later on as the girl. This game will give you more bang for your buck.

10/10

This game is well worth the $29.99 I paid for. It uses the DS in several neat and innovative ways. This game can last you a very long time too depending upon how you play it. In conclusion, if you love Survival Kids, Survivor, Gilligans Island, Lord of the Flies, or a sim. RPG, then Lost in Blue is for you.
