Jump Superstars

Review by ThunderMan

"So many characters, so much fun."

Jump Super Stars, the game known as "The DS Super Smash Bros" to some is a fighting game similar to Super Smash Bros but it has Shonen Jump characters. The only characters I know in this game are those in Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, Shaman King, Bobobo-Bo Bo-bobo, Yu-gi-oh and Yu-Yu Hakasho and there's a good selection with just those characters. I recommend this game if you can import or buy it on Ebay. I don't know Japanese so i'll start with the graphics instead of the story.

Graphics: 8/10

Nice looking 2-D game. The sprites on the characters are pretty good to look at and the backgrounds are good as well, but they are not as good as other game backgrounds. Even though the sprites are good, some of them will be found as not so good though. Finally, the artwork in the manga panels on the touch screen is impressive, almost like looking at an image while reading a manga.

Gameplay: 10/10

The gameplay here is solid and it's good enough to keep you awake at night. The has a couple of modes to play in and there's also wireless play, so you can play 1-4 players with friends who own a DS. The modes are J adventure, Wireless Play, Battle, Deck maker and the Koma gallery.

J adventure is where you travel around the Shone Jump universe and face off against characters from the Shone Jump manga. Here you do missions and battle. Missions require you to do a certain thing to clear a stage. Battle is where you face an opponent and unlock their stage for battle mode when you beat them. The

Wireless Play mode is the multiplayer here. You can play Multi-Cart or Single-Cart, but as you probably expected Single-Cart is quite limited so you use random decks from the pre-made decks.

Battle mode as the name suggests is the place to do battle. Here you can choose the settings a lot like Super Smash Bros. You can choose Time, Survival or just Training.

Deck maker is where you customize and create decks with panels of characters to your heart's content (Provided you have unlocked what you want).

Koma gallery is just a gallery where you can view all the characters you have unlocked.

Unlocking everything in this game will keep you busy for a long time.

Sound 8/10

Good sound here but it's probably not what you would expect. The music fits in well with the game and it's not flawed a lot like some other games.

Buy or Rent?

Buy... Since it's Japanese only, you probably won't be able to rent it.
