Mega Man Battle Network 5: Double Team
Review by megamanfanx7
"Megaman blasts onto the DS"
Well, I waited since summer until Christmas to get this, and it was well worth the wait.
Gameplay: 10
It's the same basic gameplay as the other 4 predecessors, only with some fun new adjustments. There are a number of new ways to attack, with Chaos Unisons (finally giving a use to dark chips without losing 1hp everytime you use one), the party system (letting you use other Navis other than Mega for once), and the normal Soul Unisons are back as well. Personally, I like the battle system the best out of all the other Battlenetwork games. Also, liberation missions add in a more tactical part on the game too.
Graphics: 10
The best from the series, simply because it's on the DS. Basically the same as from Battlenetwork 4, only the net looks a lot better.
Sound: 9
I was generally happy with the sound on the game. The game gets extra points for letting you choose what music there is in battles if you have any of the other games (simply put in another Battlenetwork game into the GBA slot, and it plays the battle music from that game in battles). The only downside to the sound is that some of the voices on the game get repetitive. Megaman always says something before every battle starts, and at the end of every battle, and the range of different things is pretty limited.
Story: 7
Nothing really special here. It continues the story from Battlenetwork 4 with Nebula taking over the net. The story is pretty linear however. Area of the net is infected, you can't get in to the area because of some block, you find someone to get past the block, liberate, move on. It does have a few twists here and there to freshen everything up every once in a while.
Replay: 9
Since both versions of Battlenetwork 5 are on here, you have twice the game, and as usual, there is stuff to do after beating the main storyline part of the game, and of course, you can always try new strategies with different chips.
Overall: 8
A great game, but if you haven't played any of the other games in the series, get either Battlenetwork 2 or 3 first. If you enjoyed those two, this is definitely a good buy. I would definitely get this version of 5 over one of the two GBA ones as well (considering it's both versions for around the same price).
