GoldenEye: Rogue Agent
Review by Xenn99
"Great Game"
Many people say that this game is garbage. All I can say about them is that they probably haven't played it and have just branded it as a bad game because the console versions were pretty mediocre.
I personally have enjoyed this game immensely. It is still one of my favorite DS games. Now, onto the review.
Graphics: 9/10
The graphics in this game are pretty good. Edges are nice and smooth, very little-if any-clipping issues. The textures are nice as well. You can see small details on enemies and weapons, as well as on static objects throughout the game.
Game play: 10/10
The game play is absolutely great. Perfect controls, great levels, good hit reception, etc. There's also a great selection of weapons. Lots of variation with them. The only main issue is that there isn't mid-level saving. But, with the DS' sleep mode this doesn't matter much.
Sound: 6/10
In my eyes, this is the only real issue with the game. The music is very, very bland. A high energy soundtrack similar to Quake II's would have fit it much better than the aged-sounding techno music in it now. Other than the music, the rest of the sounds are great. Henchmen screaming, gunfire, reloading...All of those are great. The music is the only problem.
Multi-player: 10/10
I haven't had an opportunity to play multi-player yet, but from what I've heard about it, it seems to be great. Up to 8 players off of one game card, or 4 players with multi-card. One game card only has one player skin and one map, but the multi-card mode has all maps and all character skins. (if you've unlocked them all, that is.)
Difficulty: 10/10
With four different difficulty settings, you can make the game as easy, or as challenging as you want.
Replay Value: 10/10
As with the last section, the four different difficulties also play a large role with replay value. They are enough to keep you playing for a while. Also, with TONS of un-lockable weapons, character skins, VT maps, and Multi-player maps, you'll definitely be playing for a while to unlock them all.
There is also a second mode other than "Campaign" called Virtual Training. It consists of multiple maps that you can fill with whatever enemy bots you want. You can choose your weapons, the time limit, the map, and the amount of enemies. This mode alone will keep you busy for hours.
Buy/Rent
I'd say buy it. If you're unsure about it, buy it used for cheap. It's a great game that is really a lot of fun.
