Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors 2
Review by jwill602
"Just another DBZ game"
This game isn't all that great, and if you don't love Dragon Ball Z, it's even worse. So, now you probably want to know why it's not that great, right? So, allow me to break it up into a few categories and rate it for you in a bit more detail.
Gameplay
It's not half bad, lots of the modes are exciting. The what-if battles add a lot to this category. It's got overall pretty good gameplay. I'll go into more detail about this stuff later. I'd have to give this game a 7/10 for it's gameplay.
Graphics
I've seen a lot of games with better graphics than this game. It's not half bad, but they could've done better. So, if you're looking for a realistic-looking fighting game for the DS
Don't buy this one
I'd have to give it a 4/10 for graphics.
Use of the Touch Screen
The use of the touch screen in this game isn't that inventive. It really only has one unique feature: team attack. Once you get your power up all the way, and you have the right characters, you can use team attack. You can also use the touch screen to switch characters. I would have to give this game a 3/10 for it's use of the touch screen.
Fighting style
This game is kind of different. You can fire ki blasts and all that, but there are some new features, like the energy shield that all characters can now use. It's pretty much the same fighting style as all the other portable DBZ games. There are more characters available for use in this game than the others though. There is also the use of support characters which is unique to the DBZ games. If I was ranking this game on its fighting style, I would have to give it a 6/10.
Overall Uniqueness
This game is rather unique. It has a lot more modes than most other portable DBZ games. Other unique things were listed in the above two segments. It does have a few other unique features that I won't get into detail about here. I would have to give this game a 5/10 for it's overall uniqueness.
Replay value
For many people, this is the deciding factor about getting a game. In that case, do NOT get this game. It's just a basic fighting game with a semi-unique story line with a bunch of "what-if" fights that are not in the show. In the future, perhaps the DS will get some fighting games, but as I'm writing this (beginning of 2006) there aren't any good fighting games out for the DS. So, hold on, and eventually there will be some. For it's replay value, the game gets a 3/10.
So, in the end, I would recommend renting this game as opposed to buying it. For those DBZ fanatics, go ahead and buy it. I guess I should warn you though, they DO curse in this game, in case your looking to buy it for your little kid. So, that's it, that's all I have to say, have fun playing this game!
