Pokemon Dash
Review by NeptuneWaters
"I played it once, twice... and never again. Why? Here's why..."
Now, I didn't buy this game, and I glad I didn't spend my money on it. One of my friends gave it to me as a Christmas gift, and I felt kinda bad for letting her buy it for it. It has got to be one of the worst games I ever played.
But let me just put some of my biased feelings aside for a minute. Now, you see, I'm a huge Pokemon fan, or I was until my senior year of High School. I loved most of the Pokemon games that were out... and I've read to stay away from non-typical Pokemon games (eg. Channel, Camera, Stadium... etc.)... but yah, I never bothered to get most of the games anyway.
That is, until I got a DS, and I wanted most of the games that were out. Pokemon Dash being one of them. So I popped it in and was simply amazed at the awesome 3D Pikachu I saw, and from there I thought the graphics would be awesome from there despite the few screens from the box I saw. Well, I started the game just to be surprised on how choppy the whole game looks and how you can only be Pikachu.
Now, at first, the game seems really easy, but then...after completing a few courses, it just get's downright ridiculous. Now, there's a fine line between a challenge and the impossible. This kiddie game just get's you really frustrated with the way it leads you to doom. Supposedly, your supposed to follow this icon on the map and reach a certain point using your stylus. But it doesn't really let you show that they way you're going leads you to lose the game.
The good thing about the game that will get you (well, some of you anyway) going is the cuteness of it all. I mean, how can you not like the sound of Pikachu all over the place. Haha, it just puts a smile on my face. The music also spreads the joy of Pokemon. Sadly though... these two things are the only positive things about the game.
To put things short:
Gameplay: A bit fun, but it really just get's repetitive.
Controls: Original with the stylus, but not so fun to wave it back and forth alot.
Graphics: The opening screen is cool, the rest... belongs on the original Macintosh computer.
Sound:Catchy music and cute pikachu noises. Adorable.
This is a game you'll place once, maybe twice, and then you'll put it away. I suggest if you're going to buy it, it's good for collection. Not to play.
