Zoo Tycoon DS

Review by qetuo25

"A mild price for a mild game"

I've played the tycoon games and thought I would try this for fun, but it was a downfall from the tycoon games released. At first, I thought this game would be a keeper, but it got very repetitive very soon. It's a game where one has to create a zoo and make the crowds happy and win awards.

Story: 1/10
There is no story. You have to build, maintain, and spend money on a zoo to make people happy. That basically sums it up for you.

Game play: 4/10
The game offers some mild game play, but it contains glitches that may freeze the game up, which can aggravate a person after they have spent a hour or more building up their zoo. Basically, one has to build a zoo and add concession stands, animals, caretakers, and whatever it takes to make your spectators happy and they do give you a tutorial if you have not played this game before. It does offer many different types of animals from different countries and different needs for them, but one cannot really interact with them. After playing for a while, the animals will start break out of their habitats and run around the zoo. This happens often and you will have to keep repairing the fences to keep them in.

Graphics: 5/10
The graphics are not that great to look at at all. The zoom leaves the game small, so you are quite a ways away from the animals and people, so they all look so tiny and grainy. They do not move to smooth at all either, and some of it just plain looks unrealistic.

Sound: 5/10
Its not that the sound is all that bad, but it does not provide any decent music and there are limited sounds for the animals too. You will here humorous noises when your people are running for their lives from the animals. Not to mention that the people do not make any noises unless they are being chased.

Replay ability: 3/10
The only thing you can really do to replay this would be to delete your zoos and start them up again. You should probably go for a different theme, unless you want to be very bored by it.

Overall: 4/10
If you're into animals and always dreamed of maintaining a zoo, then this is the game for you. For the people new to this genre, I would suggest renting this first before you buy, because you'll most likely save what could've been thirty dollars
