Super Princess Peach

Review by PyroX4414

"Ehhhh... No thank you."

Now let's get the formalities out of the way. I am a HUGE fan of the Mario series, I simply can't get enough of the classic platforming action the the Bros. are famous for. I can however spot a feeble attempt at change, Super Princess Peach may be a noble attempt at something new but in my opinion it falls short of what I wanted.

So let's begin...

Graphics (9/10)

No questioning it here, the game looks absolutely great. The bright colors and backgrounds of the games are top notch. From the character models we all know and love to the new levels of the game, I can find no fault in the graphics here. Sure the graphics are nice but like Nintendo always says, it is gameplay not graphics that make a good product.

Control (5/10)

Now here is one aspect that was really a bad idea. The controls are basically what you would expect from a Mario game up to a point. The worst idea I have had to deal with in terms of this game is the use; the use of the Stylus. It is hard to explain the use of the stylus here so bear with me. In sections of the game (usually before fighting a boss) Peach has to jump on what appear to be rubber bands. When this happens the player must use both the D-pad to jump as well as the touching the screen with the stylus. I hated this idea, as it was hard to switch between the two. Bad idea Nintendo, shame on you!

Sound (10/10)
The sounds of the game really fit in with some new tunes mixed in with the old classics of Mario games. Peaches "mood" is reflected really well by this aspect of the game so naturally I give it a 10.

Gameplay (4/10)
Now this is the Biggie, the end all of any review. Princess Peach's difficulty level wouldn't challenge most Pre-schoolers and the game in this reviewers humble opinion is waaaaaay too short. That is my first gameplay complaint. The second is the whole idea of the "vibe" system. Mario and Luigi shroom up and get cool new suits to power themselves up yet Peach's emotions are what give her the edge. This is a little offensive, and I really don't think it adds any depth to the game. Also, for a Mario game, there is far too much backtracking through the same areas. I need variety Nintendo!

Overall Peach falls short of my expectations. The game really is not worth the 35 dollars I spent on it and I will be selling it back to Gamestop to soften the blow.
