Nintendogs: Dachshund and Friends

Review by A-cat 13

"to play or not to play....................NOT!!!!!!!!"

The first time I heard about this game I thought ooooh that game is going to be so cool you can have your very own dog! That's actually true but that doesn't mean the game is perfect.

Game play 7/10:

The controls is pretty simple, all that you do is touch the screen! However, the controls do get a little difficult when you are doing a competition. Like, when you're doing a disc competition you have to throw the Frisbee just right or it is tougher for your dog to catch it. Or if you're in an agility trail it's hard because when you want your dog to jump over the fence thingamabob and you direct your dog toward it sometimes the dog goes crooked and misses the jump. After you play the game for a while and use your 3 competitions and your dog doesn't want to learn any more tricks it gets boring. And another bad thing is that you can only teach your dog 14 tricks!!! It's crazy! I give the game play a 7/10 because it has its perks. Like the satisfaction of teaching your dog a trick. And seeing your dog's little puppy eyes when you take it a bath. Also it's really cool when you find a really rare item on a walk.

Story 3/10:

I gave the story a 3/10 because there isn't really one. Pretty much you raise a puppy and it never ends until you get so frustrated with the game that you stomp on the game card.

Graphics 9/10:

The graphics are one of the reasons that I gave this game an okay score. The dogs look really realistic. Except the beagles, their eyes look freaky. Anyway the graphics are very clean and not that blocky at all.

Sound 4/10:

The dogs bark is pretty realistic with some of the dogs. But the music gets really annoying after a while. One of the worst parts of this game is getting the dog to recognize its name and doing its tricks, because you have to remember EXCACTLY the way you said it. I don't even call my dog by her name any more I just whistle or touch the screen.

Multi play6/10:

Bark mode is pretty fun, you get to play with some one else's dog and you get to kind of communicate with them by using the white disc. Bark mode is pretty much the same as when you're just at your house except that you're playing with another dog, and you can even give the other person a present! After you do bark mode with someone they will be in your friend list so that you can see their trainer points, and can see all of the competitions that they've won with their dog.

Replayability 3/10

The game is fun at first, but after a while it gets boring, and then after you've won a competition for the billionth time you think, why am I even playing this game? And after that when you get all the presents, if you ever do (I haven't), then there isn't really a reason to play any more unless you want to get more dogs. What you do with more dogs, pretty much, is start every thing over again.

Final score: 6/10

I think this game is kinda like a game that you play when you're bored. I play it sometimes, when I am bored, just to keep me occupied. To me it's just and okay game. It's definitely not a must buy game, you can get it if you want to but I have one last warning: IF YOU BUY THIS GAME YOU MAY REGRET IT!
