II. Introduction
****************
One day, Wario and Bomberman got into a fight for no apparent reason. In
order to take their aggressions out on each other, they began to toss bombs
at each other, hoping to blow the other one apart!
All right, that isn't the real story behind the game. In fact, I don't even
know if there IS a real story behind the game. If anyone knows for sure,
make sure you contact me to let me know! Anyways, Wario Blast was a Gameboy
game that starred everyone's favorite anti-Mario, Wario, and Hudson's famous
character Bomberman. It plays very similarly to other Bomberman games, so if
you were expecting a Wario Land type game, then I suggest you turn back now.
If, however, you're looking for tips on this fun game, then look no further!
*******************************
III. General Tips and Gameplay
*******************************
The game plays very similarly to the battle mode of other Bomberman games.
You are put into a square arena with 1-3 opponents. Your job is to bomb
through the wall, uncovering items and power-ups, and blow up all of your
opponents before they can do the same to you. If you are the last one
standing, then you win that round.
At the beginning of the game, you are given the choice to play as Wario or
Bomberman. All of your foes will be the opposite of what you chose. So if
you choose Bomberman, then you will be up against an army of Warios. It does
not matter at all which one you pick. Each one has the exact same abilities,
fights the same bosses, and gets the same ending. The only difference is how
you look, and what the little pictures between stages looks like. So, choose
which ever one you like the best. I personally prefer Bomberman myself, but
that's just me.
The game consists of 8 Worlds. Each world is made up of three stages, and a
boss fight. Each stage is broken up into three rounds. In every stage, you
must win 2 out of the 3 rounds in order to proceed to the next stage. The
number of opponents you face in each stage is the same as the stage number.
For example in stages 1-1, 2-1, 3-1, and so on, you fight one opponent in
each round. In stages 1-2, 2-2, 3-2, and so on, you fight two opponents in
each round. The most enemies you fight at one time are three. In order to
clear each round, you must destroy ALL the opponents.
All right then, understand everything so far? Good. Now I'll give you some
basic tips for playing the game.
1.Take your time! Do not rush things, or you will eventually cause your own
death. Plan out where you will set your bombs, and where you will go to
avoid the explosion. Nothing is more upsetting then this game then losing
because you trapped yourself with your own bombs!
2.Get every item that appears, even if you don't need them! You can only get
your bombs and firepower increased a certain number of times. However, once
you reach this max, keep grabbing the items. It may not help you very much,
but it will prevent your enemies from grabbing them and becoming stronger
themselves.
3.Watch out for Suicide Bombers! When you play, you must defeat every enemy
in order to win a round. However, your enemy only needs to defeat you. When
playing against 2 or 3 enemies, they may try to sacrifice one of their men to
kill you. One may try to blow both himself and you up at the same time,
since they will still win if they have any other men left alive. There isn't
very much you can do about this, but its good to be prepared, so you won't be
surprised if it happens.
4.Don't forget the strength of your own bombs! After getting several Fire
Icons, your bombs will be very strong, often reaching across the room! When
this happens, its very easy to accidentally hit yourself with one of your own
explosions. Make sure you keep track of your bomb's strength, so you can
plan accordingly. Once your bombs are maxed out, it is imperative that you
don't carelessly drop bombs down without first having a very clear escape
route in mind.

IV. Walkthrough
***************
In this section, I'll guide you through the game, telling you what to expect
in each world, and a strategy for the guardian boss monster.
World 1
_______
This world is completely normal. There aren't any special gimmicks involved,
so just play normally. This world is sort of like a training level, where
you can get the general idea of the gameplay.
Boss: Elephant Tea Cup Monster HP: 3
Hm, the name may sound stupid, but it's the best way I can describe it. It
basically looks like an elephant riding in a tea cup! All right, this boss,
like the rest of the level, is very easy. It moves around, and lets out
three mini-enemies at a time. Each of these mini-enemies dies in one hit.
Plus, the monster can fire bullets out of its trunk.
Strategy: Its best to ignore the mini enemies the beast releases, since the
main monster will only release more if you kill them. In addition, if you
are ever directly in front of the monster, it will shoot a bullet out of its
trunk at you. This is easy to avoid. You can hit this boss at any time, so
just blast away whenever you have the chance. It takes three hits to destroy
the beast.
After winning, you receive the Kick. (See Powers section below for details)
World 2
_______
This world contains Warp Holes. These are small circles, that when stepped
on, teleport you to another Warp Hole in the arena. While you are appearing
or disappearing, you are momentarily invincible.
General Tip for World:
Constantly lay bombs down next to Warp Holes. The enemies tend to use them A
LOT, and by laying bombs next to them, you will eventually be able to kill
the enemies as they are either approaching a warp hole, or exiting one.
Stage 2-1: The Warp Holes teleport you in a Clockwise direction.
Stage 2-2: The Warp Holes teleport you in a Clockwise direction.
Stage 2-3: The Warp Holes teleport you in a Counterclockwise direction.
Boss: Top Monster HP: 3
This monster travels around, and fires a boomerang at you when you are in a
direct line from it. It can only be hurt when the boomerang is flying.
Strategy: Since you can only hurt it while the boomerang is out, you should
plan ahead. When you think you know what direction the monster is going to
move in, place a bomb in the area where you think it will soon be. Then make
the monster stop and fire the boomerang at you when its in range of the bomb
by getting in its sights. While the boomerang begins to fly at you, the bomb
should go off and damage the boss. This is much easier then trying to set a
bomb down AFTER the boomerang is already fired, since the boomerang will
probably return before the bomb has a chance to go off.
After defeating it, you will receive the Dashin (See Powers section below for
details)
World 3
________
This world contains bomb-guiding blocks. These look like arrows on the
ground. Whenever a bomb is kicked onto an arrow, it will change directions
and start traveling in the direction the arrow was pointing.
General tip for World 3:
I recommend NOT using the kick very often in this world. Its often hard to
keep track of what arrows your bomb will encounter, so if you careless start
kicking bombs, you'll eventually get a very unpleasant surprise, as one of
your own bombs will return to blow you away.
Boss: Balloon Cat HP: 4
This boss resembles a Balloon Fight reject. A cat will fly about the screen,
suspended in the air by balloons strapped to its back. It can fly in ALL
direction, not just the 4 basic ones, so beware. Every once in a while, it
will land on the ground to fire Bear Heads(?) out of its mouth at you. Of
course, while its one the ground is the only time your bombs can reach it.
Strategy: This boss fight is where the Dashin becomes important. Keep
running the entire time, trying to stay as far away as possible. If you get
too close, it may suddenly change directions and run you over. Just keep
dropping bombs as you run. Eventually one will hit as it lands. It only
takes 4 hits to kill, so this won't take as long as it sounds.
After, you will win the Trouncer (see Powers section below for details)
World 4
_______
This world contains short fuses. This means that bombs will go off a lot
sooner than they would normally. Also, Warp Holes make a return appearance
in this world.
General Tip for World 4:
With the short fuses, it becomes increasingly more important to plan your
escapes properly. Make sure you get out of the way as soon as you drop a
bomb. In addition, the return of the Warp Holes means the strategy from
Level 2 will work here as well.
Stage 4-1: The Warp Holes will teleport you in a Counterclockwise direction.
Stage 4-2: The Warp Holes will teleport you in a Counterclockwise direction.
Stage 4-3: The Warp Holes will teleport you in a Clockwise direction.
Boss: Plant Monster HP: 5
This boss resembles a potted plant. It attacks by releasing petals, which
will then chase your around the arena. Destroying the petals (with one
blast, I might add), prompts the monster to release more. It can release up
to 3 petals at one time. This monster can only be hit while its in the act
of dropping petals.
Strategy: As soon as the battle starts, run up until you are directly beneath
it (as close as you can be without touching it) and lay down a bomb.
Immediately after laying this bomb, run around so you are directly to the
side. As soon as your first bomb goes off, lay down another bomb and run
back so you are beneath the monster again. Once the second bomb goes off,
drop another bomb, and return to the side. Keep doing this until the monster
dies. The reason this works is this. When your first bomb goes off, it
should damage the plant while its first releasing petals. In addition to
this, it will also destroy all of the petals he was releasing. This will
cause it to release more petals. While its doing this, your second bomb
should go off, damaging it, and destroying those petals. By continuously
dropping bombs like I described above, it is possible to get all five hits in
at the very beginning of the match. This requires you to be quick, however,
and also, a bit of luck. If the monster does manage to break out of this
trap, you'll have to fight it normally. Plan ahead, and when you think the
last petal is about to get destroyed, place a bomb near the flower, so it
will get hit when trying to release more petals.
After, you will win the Liner (See Powers section below for details)
World 5
________
This world contains Gas Vents. They look like grates on the floor. If a gas
vent is hit by an explosion, it will begin to release gas. Touching to gas
will cause you to be stunned for a short time. The gas will turn off either
if touched by a character, or left alone for a while.
General Tip for World 5:
This is one of the easier levels, since the enemies tend to touch the gas,
and then blow themselves up with their own bombs while stunned. If they
don't, its still easy, as you can use the Trouncer to stun them yourself.
Boss: Cloud Monster HP: 6
This boss floats slowly around in all directions, and shoots lightning at you
when you are in a direct line of sight with the monster. Of course, it is
only vulnerable while in the process of firing. This monster is similar to
the Balloon Cat, except it moves much slower, and can only shoot in four
directions.
Strategy: Fairly easy. Just lay bombs down near the monster, and then try to
get it to shoot at you while its in range of the bombs.
After, you will win the last item, the Moto. This combined with the Trouncer
makes the rest of the game very, very easy. (See Powers section below for
details)
World 6
________
This world is an Ice level. The ground is slick, so you will slide a little
whenever you try to stop. In addition, walls that you destroy will
eventually regenerate.
General Tip for Level 6:
The enemies tend to trap themselves a lot by moving into an area, and then
letting the walls re-freeze around them. Since they do not have a Moto, they
will become trapped, and at your mercy.
Boss: Balloon Monster HP: 3
This boss resembles a bug with an inflatable abdomen. It moves around, and
fires laser beams at you when you are in sight. Bombing it makes it grow
larger. After hitting it with 2 bombs, it will begin to follow you. AVOID
IT! It will then explode, which kills you if you are near it, and becomes
momentarily deflated. You can only damage it while its in the deflated mode.
Strategy: This is one of the easiest bosses in the game. The laser is easy
to avoid, so just hit it with your bombs to make it inflate. Once its at its
maximum size, avoid it, so you won't be hit by the explosion. You can only
actually damage it while its deflated, so in actuality, even though it only
has 3 HP, you will have to hit it at least 9 times. (Twice to inflate it,
once to damage it, repeated 3 times).
World 7
_____________
This level features the return of the short fuses. Like before, be
especially careful of blowing yourself up. In addition, the Bomb Guiding
blocks return in stages 2-2 and 2-3.
Boss: Knight HP: 8
This boss will move slowly about in the four straight directions. When it
sees you, it will begin to spin its sword around. The monster can only be
hit while it's sword is spinning. In addition, after being taken to 2 HP, it
will toss its sword at you like a boomerang. It can be hit while the sword
is in the air.
Strategy: This is another easy boss. Use the same strategy that you used
against the Top Monster, and you will be fine.
World 8
__________
In the final world, you will automatically be maxed out with full powered
bombs and fire. But beware, your enemies are also at max strength!
General Tip for World 8:
This world is really the easiest one in the whole game. With the Trouncer
and Moped, you can easily track down, tackle, and kill your foes, and you
won't even have to spend any time looking for powerups!
Final Boss: Robot HP: 9 total, 3 for each form
The final battle!! The robot is the toughest boss in the game. In its first
form, it can shoot lasers from its legs, and missiles from its body. Its
only vulnerable to your bombs in the very short amount of time that the
missile door is open. After three hits, it will lose the lasers and
missiles, and begin to throw a pair of balls at you, that act like a
boomerang. You can only hit it when these balls are flying. After three
more hits, it will lose everything but its head. The head will begin flying
around, shooting bullets in the four diagonal directions. In this form, it
can be hit at any time.
Strategy: Form 1- As soon as the battle begins, take one step forward and lay
down all of your bombs with the Liner. Watch out for the laser though! As
soon as these bombs blow up, go to the space that is 3 squares up from the
starting point, and lay down a line of your bombs again. If all goes well,
then you should get two free hits in. After this, its more luck then
anything else to get the third hit in. Just keep dropping bombs and hope you
get lucky.
Form 2- This form is very easy. Just use the same strategy that
worked against the Balloon Cat and Knight monsters and you will succeed very
shortly.
Form 3- This form is even easier! Since it can only fire shots in
the four diagonal directions, his attacks are simple to avoid. Since he can
be hit at any time, just blast him whenever you have the chance!
Congratulations! You have just beat Wario Blast!

V. Power List
**************
You will receive a special power after defeating each of the first five
bosses. Here's a description of the powers.
Kick- Found after defeating World 1 boss. It allows you to kick already set
bombs (both yours and your opponents) by running into them. Once they are
moving, you can stop them at any time by pressing the B button.
Dashin- Recovered from the World 2 boss. Once you have this, you can move at
twice your normal speed by holding down the B button. Very useful.
Trouncer- Won after World 3. This lets you tackle your foes. If you touch
an enemy while dashing, you will knock them back, and stun them for about one
second. This makes the game a lot easier, since you can just ram your
enemies, and then place a bomb right next to them while they are stunned.
Note that this power does not work on bosses, since you can not touch a boss
without dying.
Liner- The Plant Monster of World 4 holds this one. By pressing A twice, you
can lay a line of all your bombs at once. Remember, its only useful if you
have more than one bomb!
Moto- The last item, found in World 5. This is a motorcycle that lets you
jump over blocks, one at a time. This only works for the non-destructible
blocks however. This combined with the Trouncer makes the rest of the game a
breeze. As soon as a match starts, you can basically jump over the walls to
reach your enemies, tackle them, and then bomb them.
*************
VI. Item List
*************
After blowing up certain walls, you may find one of two powerups. Here's an
explanation of what they do.
Bomb Icon- The more you get of these, the more bombs you can lay out at a
time. I believe the max is either 4 or 5.
Fire Icon- The more you get of these, the larger the explosions from your
bomb becomes. Be careful when getting too many of these, however, as the
explosions can become huge.
***************
VII. Skull List
***************
Besides powerups, blown up walls can also reveal skulls. Grabbing one
infects you with a problem for a short time. Luckily, if you touch an
opponent while infected, you will transmit the disease to them at well.
Here's an explanation of the 3 types of skull diseases. (note: all the skulls
look the same, so you will not know what kind of disease one carries unless
someone picks it up.)
1. When infected with this type of skull, you will lose the ability to lay
down bombs for a short while.
2. When infected by this type, your speed is greatly reduced for a short
time.
3. This skull will reduce your bomb's power to the lowest level.
************
VIII. Secets
************
Or should I say "secret", seeing as I only know of one!
1. At the password screen, put in the following codes to play "The Battle!"
In this mode, you have maxed powerups, and all items. You fight one opponent
at a time, but as soon as you kill it, a new one will regenerate. The point
is to see how many you can kill before you are killed yourself.
For a Bomberman game, put in "5656"
For a Wario game, put in "6565"
**********************
IX. Unsolved Mysteris!
**********************
Yes, even a game like this has some unsolved mysteries! If you know the
answer to any of these, or have a new one to share, please contact me by E-
Mail.
1. The Battle code! If you use the code to get access to "The Battle", you
may have noticed something strange. When you are finally defeated, it will
display not only the number of kills you got, but also a 4 letter code. This
code changes depending on the number of enemies you have beaten. What
exactly is this code used for?!?!
